Hoosier R7’s to FULL Slicks?

Anyone have experience switching to full slicks from Hoosier R7’s? Does this completely erase all my recent alignment and suspension updates? Or is it possible to make the switch to full slicks with little fuss?

Will I need to unplug ABS?

And since I still have my AP 8350’s, can I put these on rear and get a brake bias adjuster?

Quite a difference. Full slicks are only really useful in high heat long duration events when I can chase down all of the A equipped cars that ran away from me in the first couple of laps. Or if your doing rovals. Or if you have tire warmers. Or if Everyone is on slicks like Bee's class. That being said yes the camber is quite a bit more, say -3.0 for R7's to -4.0 for mich slicks. What you aren't considering, and what you've spent a TON of time just finishing, is that you need WAY more spring with full slicks. So it's not a "in the same weekend" setup change.

No, this is only the case when you stick a pro driver in the car that is used to xyz pressure to get that .001 out of it.

No, the Piston sizes are too large for an "off the shelf" adjuster to compensate. I've asked them about a billion times to make the rear already.

Thanks Balrok! And that sucks for me. I need to find two seconds and knew slicks would help. I was chasing a previous student in his new-to-him Porsche 996 cup car on slicks. He smoked me. Also, my other students are driving GT3 RS’s and they too are putting up better lap times. It’s like the days of me embarrassing the rich guys is coming to an end. Technology is winning. My analog EVO is showing its age. LOL!!!!

That and they likely weigh ~400lbs less then you with similar HP, and with actual racing suspension geometry lol. If you went out on a sticker set of A7's in the 295 range+ and you knew the limits, I'd say you'd get that second back. Time to put that pig on a diet. Those guys rarely use sticker tires in "DE" days.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I think I should just sell my Evo and get a C7 Corvette or a ZL1 1LE. It'd be faster and a lot less stressful to maintain and operate. But I'm not sure it'd be as fun to drive. And, if you *are* fast in it, well then, of course you are fast, but you bought it didn't built it, etc...

All of us should be funding diets for our cars this winter, and well for ourselves while we're at it lol. It's literally the best mod out there.

Keto diet. I'm down 35lbs since July. 252 to 217.

Diet for sure....both car and me. That’s a great thread starter. For every pound I lose, I need to pull that much out of the EVO. Hahah!

I’d say I have hit that wall of where my EVO is in build verse buying something else. The depths I have gone to keep my car mostly street looking...... Never wanted to make it a cut up race car. Ho hummm.

I don’t trust any GM high performance car as I have seen two similar brake disasters at speed. Both fuzzy logic ABS events, but very similar stories in two different platforms. But I sure do like their current offerings. But. Ack to weight, the new stuff is heavier than my pig EVO.

Andy, that Audi TT sure looked fun. And I’m hearing you are liking the Lewis Miata.

You would be insanely disappointed driving an Audi TT on track compared to any Evo.

Porsche is really the only alternative for us Evo track rats.

Anything domestic you can buy will be heavy. Very heavy. I've considered buying my old man's 5th gen 1LE camaro to get more seat time while the evo is apart but the expenses for 20" tires, massive brakes, and gas are a huge turn off. Not to mention any LS motor will blow up without a dry sump, even on mildly built cars.

I will say I was pretty surprised to see the new GT500 keep pace with a GT3 around Chuckwalla.

But yea, expect to pay 100k at a minimum to get you where you are now. Money you spend now on mods would pretty much be the same to just do maintenance on those vehicles too.

A basic 6th gen mustang with a diff cooler seems to be pretty dang good on track. With very little effort they're in the high 35xx range which isn't light but its not terrible considering 400whp and 305-315 tires with very little effort. And you can see out of it on the street or in grid

C7 Grand Sport weighs the same as an Evo 10.

Camaro ZL1 1LE is 38XX so heavy but lighter than the last gen Camaro.

Answer is still 911... :P

Although the 911S is basically the same weight as an Evo 10.

GT3 is 31XX-32XX

Was referring more to the cup car which is around 2750 WET, with all the cage and electronics. If you wanna go faster, you only climb the wall, not stare at it for years Although I suppose that's more of a cliff then a wall lol.

From what I've heard and seen over the years even at the auctions, most everyone has gotten over the "stock appearing" JDM cars unless they're classics. A well done wide body will sell 50x faster then a "stock appearing", and a "stock appearing" would need to actually be stock in order to have hope of getting the "classics" prices. Most of these guys, like us, want to do the engine and suspension build themselves and have the body "done" already.

So you're half way there

Then the question becomes - which would be more fun over the course of ownership - a TCR or a Cup.
