Cutting the rear bumper cover
Hey man if Honda boys can love their car and cherish them to death then why can't Evo guys. The car is rarer and most parts for it getting pretty rare and already more expensive than other brands.
Remember when 964s were a dime a dozen and no one gave a crap about them? Would you take a sawzall to good condition one now?

You're talking to a guy who bought his evo new in 2005, still owns it, and which only has 22k miles on the odometer. And I bought a 25 yr old JDM Evo 3. I'm as enthusiastic about them as the next guy. But its a toy. And I'll play with my toys however I choose
& helps w/that parachute effect. Always liked that Blue Track EvO
Time attack cars are also hideous but designed for 100% function. Thats what we're talking about here. This is the motorsport forum after all.
Its based on a lancer for god sake. You must think the lancer or mirage is/was a beautiful car along that line of reasoning lol
The evo is no holds barred performance oriented. Looks were always an afterthought even in its production from day 1.
Its a niche look to owners who love them. But they are not beautiful cars by any stretch of the imagination. Its a 4 door car with a big trunk. The interior is hideous and cheap.
We're not talking about an Italian car here guys... Its mostly plastic. And OE USDM bumpers are a dime a dozen so why not chop them. The JDM 9 bumper has some money attached to it so I prob would not chop that.
Also seeing as Im permanently on 18" wheels and no longer can use or carry a spare tire, I'll be ditching the spare tire well anyway.

I find the evo 8/9 to have some of the most aggressive and best lines as far as styling goes. If you dont like it and think the evo is that ugly why even own one?

I bought my car to enjoy, not moth ball until the next buyer comes along in 5-10yrs.
I have smarter ways to invest my money.
I didn't pay $17k for a garage trophy.
I do feel bad for those that own fun cars but never really enjoy them. But that's their choice and on them.

Pretty much every performance street car is based on an economy version. skyline gtr, mustang gt, lancia integrale evo, bmw m3 ect..on and on and on. What makes the lancer to evo different? The evo is a whole different chassis with a completely redesigned/engineered power-train. Its nothing like the lancer. The interior? really? why does this guy own an evo...lol

You clearly have no idea how markets work. 10 years ago a clean nismo r34 gtr went for 35k. someone would have laughed at you back then for saying they would cost around 250k today. Dont be that guy. In euro market low mileage evo 9s are already fetching near 60-80k. It was speculation, but we will see what a like-new evo costs in ten years.

You have no clue what I own or how much fun I had with my cars...lol

). And there ARE competing time attack drivers/cars who come here or at least used to. Not to mention NASA, SCCA, Gridlife, OLOA, HPDE and various competitive AutoX clubs. Go back to evo general or show and shine please.

Just sad. This is the motorsport section of the forum. Most of the guys in here use the car for what its made for (or at least intend to one day

If the Cyber evo can break time attack records with a full jdm rear bumper then im pretty sure OP will be okay without mutilating his car. Just because I believe in incorporating performance and keeping the car looking like an evo as much as possible it doesn't mean im all about show n shine. Whatever you want to say, there is aesthetic appeal when it comes to the ct9a as many would agree.
