US time attack is still way behind Aussie TA. WTAC's club sprint class is their lowest level and is the equivalent of GTA's Street or Gridlife's Street Mod. Ignore class names, that's all they are, a name.

The nature of TA rules is not like TT. TT tells you what you're allowed to do, TA tells you what you're not allowed to do.

Placing power restrictions usually just means people scamper to whatever chassis will get them the best power for the ruleset, it makes for boring results. The downside to the other side of the coin is that some guys will spend lots of money and makes lots of power because there's not a limit and they can.

I know a fair amount of guys who run GTA Street/Gridlife Street Mod and unless literally every single one of them is lying, the guys up on podium are 5-600whp in heavier chassis cars (3000-3200lbs). Limited/Track Mod on the other hand, you're looking for 650-800whp if you want a shot for the podium, especially with all the turbo vettes people are building this year.

Is the CT9A a competitive chassis still? Well Shawn beat Jackie in his A90 almost every event they both drove this past season and Jackie was training to be a formula driver so he's not lacking in skill.

What 90% of guys lack in TA is the ability to be consistent and build a car that's reliable. Reliability is always key, if your car doesn't run you can't race, if you can't race you can't win.

And the other point is being consistent. Tons of guys crank out one good lap because the stars aligned for them and then that's the only good lap they get all weekend.

I see so many guys talking about how they want to compete in time attack and I respect their desire as I myself want to compete every event but time attack is a terrible way to gain seat time and without seat time you'll never know how consistent you're being. The guys on podium who are consistent run 5-10 laps the entire weekend after practice is over, the only time they're doing more is usually to troubleshoot something.

I just do GTA to justify my HPDE time.

It's all fun for me, though. I think getting too serious and trying so hard, to become a better racer, would suck some of that out.

If I get better, sweet. If not, meh. I'll leave the serious stuff up to the serious guys.
