2022 STU discussion
Hello, I am just a lurker here. I am Justin with the STi
We run 255s because it's cheaper and easier, we tried the 295s up front with the 255s in the rear but were not successful in getting faster times. The 295 has more corner exit traction and mid-corner grip but the turn-in is not as good. Maybe a different setup can extract more time on the tires. We were tempted to try the 295 on our last run since the 255s were giving up in the last part of the course, but they were stickers and a little bit too big of a hail mary.

Again, congrats Justin!
What is the plan for next year? Are you guys going to be bringing the STI back to Nats again?
For us with X, I guess options would be 255/35/18 vs 265/35/18 vs 275/35/18 vs 285/30/18 vs 295/30/18 of which 285s are the shortest at 24.8", followed by 255s and 295s at 25". @65s are next with 25.3" and the tallest option is 275s at 25.6".
Perhaps a test with 255s vs 285s would be needed, but I am not sure I would go with 255s because X has a bit more weight to move around

Base on that, I was thinking it would nice to know the difference between wider and narrower setups for us too.

Yes I did. I mean I've been wrong before but what can a STU Evo X get down to in weight? 33XX? Maybe 32XX??
Im in the upper 29XX range and there's not much I can do to go lower unless I get some Titanium pieces possibly....
From there, how much more can be taken out is something I would like to know the answer as well.
You must have tires stacked to the ceiling with all these different setup
So yeah - I think I have a problem as the majority of these were purchased in the last year. Here's my stash of tires currently with some on the way. I now will have 5 sets of wheels for the evo.....wtf.
