New OZ Autoxer
Hey man, don't worry about the cost...Its $25 for a day and you can borrow a helmet, how can you beat that? Besides especially on a "fun day", where people tend to come with like their wives' grocery-getters and just have fun, you don't have to worry whether or not you've maxed out your car for your class.
Hmm, breaking up STS wouldn't be bad, its just a huge lump category now. I remember hearing they broke it up a little bit. But I mean, good lord, an intake, a body kit or even a pedal kit drops you into a category full of 6-cylinder American cars and turbo Miatas? Thats not even vaguely fair...

eh, I think you're exaggerating there a little bit. All of those mods are allowed in STS class. And they did add a couple of St classes, but it didn't affect STS at all. They just simply made a street tire class for Miatas and such and another category for Evos and STIs and such. One person from my region is forecasting classes such as STA, STB, STC, etc. for street tire classes. I mean, so many people like the idea of being able to buy one set of tires for the entire season.
I like the idea of breaking up the sts class, hell, those damn neons are half the weight of our cars lol. I think the idea of having a big autox meet somewhere around mass. or NY would be awesome for those that could make it.
Next autocross is now scheduled for June 13th at California Speedway. I won't be there because the new date is the same weekend I will be at Buttonwillow Raceway. I wanted to have a club autocross meet, and even did once, but not that many people are interested. The last attempt boiled down to 4 members watching me race and other members joining us later that day for food. And as for having our own autocross, it's not cost effective. We have no timing equipment or cones, and the cost of renting the parking lot and the $100,000 insurance policy is a little steep for a club where only 5-10 members would actually participate. Just check www.solo2.com for upcoming events, I'll most likely be there, as I plan on being in the top 10 for points this season!
u can do whatever you want..so far I've done events with 3 different places. Im not a member to any of them, so I may pay 5 dollars more but this way there is some more freedom in which events you want to go. If i were to stick with one club then I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make some of the events.
Don't fret Fiesty, there's mainly evos around here too. With the exception of my friend who comes down occasionally, there are not other Lancer OZs or ESs autocrossing in my region.
