I dont like to dogg on Evo's, I <3 Evos all the way, but you assume just because YOUR Evo CANT do better than a DSM, you say a DSM owner cant do it because your evo cant. Youre just doing it wrong.

Come on guys. This is getting ridiculous.

I thought of this event not because I think that DSMs don't make power, but because DSMers believe they can make MORE power mod-for-mod than an EVO. This is illogical in my book since the EVO is a refined 4G. I want to see these DSMs make gobs of power with little mods like they say. At the same time, I want to have FUN!! This was NOT meant to be a bitter rival with arguing and bickering.

Ok, does it really matter who makes more power/mod... blah blah, they are both a 4g63. The whole concept with this engine, and car, is EVOLUTION.... meaning the whole system, car, engine, controls etc evolve to something better... the EVO 9 has the last revolution of the power train, so it would make sense that that is the best you can get. The evo motor has better flow in the head and a few other things that EVOLVED from the earlier motor that were in DSMs, etc. However the DSMs have more time developing their setups and parts....

That being said WHO FREAKING CARES. Every one is getting their panties in a wad over a BS number. Who will make more power, who cares, I just want to see the results of some High Power 4g63s evo or DSMs. Power/mod, thats ridiculous too... All the mods support each other, so the person that has the best combination of mods, aka a fully built car, will make good power, evo or DSM.

Yes, it does. Why would buy a car that's supposed to be a better solution all around and it's not? Let's get real here. Everyone of us spent our hard-earned dollars on the EVO for it's tremendous power capabilities and handling.

Agreed.

A lot of people care. Otherwise, why would they have an entire messageboard thread on Dyno Results?

I like seeing my car make nice horsepower gains after adding mods. And if everyone was truthful with themselves, they'd agree. There are thousands of posts in the EVO 1-9 dyno threads with people excited about how their car performed on the dyno. So yeah, I think it is important.

The DSM guys have the notion of speaking out in a way that makes EVO owners feel like they got a raw deal with their purchase. Things like:

EVO owner: " I just made 450whp with my GT35r on pump gas!"
DSM owner: " Is that all? We made 500whp with just a 20g! Something is wrong..."

EVO owner: "Wow, after all my boltons, my stock turbo is putting down 389whp! I'm quite happy with it!"
DSM owner: "Meh.. we can make 460whp on a 16g in our 1G talon.. "

They pick the exception instead of the rule to try and make a case that the DSM is, in general, a superior product when it comes to making power. And their basis is experience - ignoring all the previous DSM tuners that have moved on to EVOs and have migrated that same experience over.

It's always a comment that points to the EVO not being setup properly (which I find hard to believe for EVERY tuner out there), or the EVO just isn't making more power compared to the DSM hence leading to the question - why get an EVO in the first place?

I currently Own both! A 1991 talon TSI with a big 16g on it, and a few other minor mods, and a Heavily moded fully built evo 8. I bought the evo because it is everything I hoped my talon could become the steering, handling, tune-ability, and over all driver ergo is infinitely better than my talon hands down. I didnt like the seats better in the talon, they have adjustable side bolsters, which I wish my evo had, but the talon doesnt have the holes for a harness unfortunately, or I would have my talon seats in my evo hahaha!

My point was not that no-one should care about dyno numbers, if thats something you are into, then by all means, go to every dyno day you can find, personally, if my car feels fast, gets around the track, and beats "you" then frankly I dont care what dyno says what and all that junk. I was saying, stop all the bs arguing about who should make more power and power per mod..... it still a 4g63, one of the best engines you can get, in some of the best cars on the road and track (performance/dollar) dsm or evo!

There are plenty of reasons to care about dyno numbers. It is a great tool to make sure your car is running at its prime state. I've been in plenty of cars that FEEL strong, log perfectly, yet we get it loaded onto the dyno to find its actually down a bit on power, dig into the issue further only to then find and correct the problem. Some people do get carried away and obsessed with the numbers game so it all needs to be taken for whats its worth. Then again, I suppose thats really no different than something shooter for a lower ET or higher trap speed; to each their own I guess

Im kind of courious as well i might come back up from abilene just to watch what happens seeing how my poor little Evo is slow and has not had any attention from me in the past year seeing as to how I just returned from South Korea a little over a month ago.
