HERE WE GO AGAIN........Calling all NTEC to Float the Guadalupe River
HERE WE GO AGAIN........Calling all NTEC to Float the Guadalupe River June 26th-27th
Everyone,
For everyone going to river who is concerned about the condition of the river (due to the massive flooding a week ago), WE ARE STILL FLOATING THE RIVER. We will be camping at the same location, but we will be floating the northern part of the river. The northern part consists of the horseshoe to the 4th crossing. The float can last anywhere between 4-6 hours. As of right now, the rest of the river is closed due to debris and clean up efforts. Of course this could all change for the better as the 26th gets closer. If it does change, we will float the middle part to the Rockin R (basically the same spot we always float).
I talked to the Army Corp of Engineers concerning the release rate of Canyon Lake at the time we will be floating, they said it will be around 300cfs, which is perfect for floating.
Bottom line, THE TRIP IS STILL ON so get ready!
Its that time of the year again to clear out your schedules for the weekend of June 25th for my Annual Guadalupe River Trip. Last year was a blasty blast, plenty of beer, plenty of food, plenty of music, plenty of friends having a good time.
The Official Date is:
The weekend of June 26th, 2010.
Here is the official plan:
1. Late Thursday, June 24th, in the afternoon I will be leaving down to New Braunfels to claim the famous camping spot for the weekend.
2. Friday is when everyone starts arriving at the camp site. Its ok if you leave after work and get to the camp site late, we will be up, trust me. For all the people showing up early to the camp site Friday, the majority of us will be drinking in the river within the camp grounds. I will attach a sketch showing the our camp site location within the camp grounds.
3. Around 11 am Saturday we will start floating the river. It can take anywhere between 4-8 hours to float the river. Yes it sounds like a long time, but it goes by quick. Plus we also pull off to the side of the river and eat a picnic, so pack a lunch.
4. Sunday June 27th, we either repeat Saturday again, of just go hangout in the river within the camp grounds.
5. Either Sunday night you can drive home, or you can leave Monday morning, that's up to you.
6. I will be taking off work Thursday through Monday. Monday can be kinda hard at work after driving back Sunday. Its your choice.
All rules apply from previous the previous years:
1. Bring all your own food, tents, blankets, grills, ice, beer, camping equipment, supplies, clothes, ice chest, etc.. No Mooching! Your responsible for yourself.
2. Tube rentals are as followed:
15 bucks for a tube without a bottom per day
17 bucks for a tube with a bottom per day (highly recommended)
3. Camping fees:
30 bucks a night for 1 car up to four people within the car ( 3 nights = $90 for camping / by 4 people = $22.50 a person for camping for the whole trip ) So car pooling is recommended
4. If you can't roughneck it for 3 days, there are plenty of hotels and motels within New Braunfels. Of course it will be up to you to meet us at Camp Huaco Falls when we start the float.
If you are questioning the the rules and regulations on the Guadalupe River, the answer to that is, THERE ARE NONE, except no glass or Styrofoam. Yes, you can bring beer bongs, jello-shots, as much beer as you can float, a cooler as big as you want, play music as loud as you want. The rules only apply to the portion of the Guadlaupe river which floats in the city limits of New Braunfels, WHICH WE WILL NOT FLOAT. We normally float the upper/mid parts of the river outside the city limits.

Yeah, its still not finished. I have to permanently mount a battery mount on the inside of the barrell to hold the battery in place. But that won't be in any new pictures. Also going to add a couple of flags on the top of the barrell. Haven't really searched custom flags on the net yet. Hopefully by the end of April the boombox will be ready.

Count me in though, I float a few times a year and it's always a good time. Plus that mobile stereo looks bad ***!

Just called Rockin R to check, and they said the same thing I said. Only within the city limits is where items are restricted.
Glad you can make it. I guess I should start an official list.

Good to hear. I had been told last year by the cops at the checkpoint at the beginning of the float that they had banned that stuff so I guess they might have shifted the float starting/ending location to get around the rules. I know they moved the float points in the past.

2. SilverEvoX +10 (may or may not be staying at the camp site)
