Update: Build is moving right along. Block is out for the 2.2 sleeves. Still trying to decide if I should stick with the stock turbo, or see if I can get a FP Green or BBX lite somewhat cheaply. I think with the 2.2l and e85 both of these turbos would still spool quickly enough to be competitive in autox.
Really it will all come down to can I find a turbo in the price range I want in the time frame I have.

I sent FP a message to check on lead time. From what I've heard from a few people, it takes a while to get your turbo back. I would have to get it back before the car is ready. I don't want to be without it any longer than I have to be.
I even thought about buying a 2nd stocker and sending it out and then installing it later if I decide to go that route.

The key is that you could do the work yourself. Big engine builds aren't money makers for shops, so they deprioritize them. Then you end up not getting work done on it for long stretches of time, as half an hour charging $300 to install exhaust is better than half an hour unbolting **** from the engine - especially when you've got a set fee you're charging for the engine swap.
It sucks, but from the business aspect of it, I see why it takes so long in many cases. If you're in a major hurry, you can find a shop who will give full attention to your car, but you'll have to pay.
And justin, as I mentioned on evox, my black will be for sale quite shortly if you're interested in going that big

Man sorry to hear about this. I was afraid enough on the super hot days just street driving aggressively given my current map and had been seeing small knock counts like 1-2 occasionally in the heat.
Hope you get it built and better than ever Justin. I know more and more Evo X in the area are going to be running on built motors soon because you and Tom are in the process of buying parts now and I will be soon also to build it before it pops. Best of luck with the build and FWIW Cobb told me they could do a full build on mine in 15 business days so I would think under a month is doable if you've got all the parts ready to go.

Ordering parts before had is definitely the way to go. Start planning and ordering now. I think all together my car will end up being down for about 8 weeks, maybe less.
I picked up a FP green today at lunch so we'll see what the car will do. I can't wait to get it back on the road. Driving to work and back is so boring now.

Haha. Just kidding of course. Welcome to Streed Modified class, buddy!

Very cool!
