From what I've read on the forums people with 2.2 are running the 90mm Arias pistons and Pauter rods. I'm not sure what we are going to go with. I'll have to get with Richard or Kevin and see. I hear wait time on them suck.

I learned a long time ago... things take time and money. You want fast? The quality goes down, unless the price goes up.

Manley TT rods or MAP X-Beam Rods are faster to get, cheaper, and at least on par or better than pauter

Piston wise, arias, JE, Weisco HD all good options.

I went X beam and weisco

For a stock or small stockframe turbo the Walbro is plenty, and the install kit is relatively cheap. Throwing massive amounts of fuel through your lines and fuel rail has no benefits while creating high fuel temps and the possibly of over-running your stock FPR causing your car to run richer than it should at idle and cruise due to excessive fuel pressure. If you do need more than a Walbro check out the FullBlown 340 (direct swap with a Walbro), Andrew has pushed it past 30psig on a MAP EF3 with a MAP 2.3L and plans to take it to 35psig.

Those MAP X-beam rods are nice. I know a few guys with them and they'd also be my choice. Andrew is running MAP's 8/9 rods too.

WOW! That sucks. we run the cosworth pistons and rods and they have been flawless and held up to all the abuse we have thrown at them.

Good luck man! your mod list looks good. I agree with KevinD. The few hundred more dollars get a surge tank. I have a bunch of international customers that due track racing and the surge tank is a must even with a full tank they have seen starvation issues on hard turns.

I think detonation propensity in extreme conditions is a lot higher. I am not saying the car knocked, but the piston is clearly fragged. I recommend running Tephra maps, or anything that can give you a leg up to know if you are seeing weird knocksum.

I drove interstate for three hours in 104 degree heat. I rolled into the throttle, heard audible knock and got fast flashing light before immediately lifting. I went home, cooled the car down, drove later that night and could not replicate the issue.

My point is that if you tuned for pump and torture testing the engine on a track, it would be wise to drop about 25% race gas in the tank (unleaded if you aren't catless), so you can take detonation in extreme conditions off the table.

The other two huge things are a surge tank and checking the relays. Actively monitor knock and fueling if you can with some kind of warning device on the car. Better luck with the next engine, man!

I actually didnt realize that Justin was going with stock turbo. The walbro's would be just fine for that, I cannot read sorry lol. Getting a surge tank though seems to be the safest bet and I always go with the safest of all even though it can overkill. Another reason why I dont track, I know I will blow up my car if I do haha.

For sure, monitoring knock is never a bad thing! I'm not sure what your tuning plans are, but Kevin can obviously do this for you with ECUFlash and Cobb can as well. AP Tephra is already functioning for the 2008 and is close for the 2010; I should have an alpha map with it fairly soon.

the manley TT rods are run in all buschur motors we get built, which we have pushed to over 700whp (mustang), run a 9.8 1/4 mile, and generally, havent broke a single rod yet (we have had a rod bolt break in one before though... the really cool thing was the rod is so strong, it busted a hole through the block but was still straight ).

i have the weisco pistons in my race car motor and it has made 580whp with no problem, and the buschur motors all have the JE pistons

haven't used the map X beam rods yet so cant say anything about them.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I hate seeing anybody in a position like this, but we would be happy to help in any way we can.

Cosworth pieces are nice, but they're trading on their name lately. E.G. lots of their stuff (bearings come to mind) are simply rebranded items from others. The pistons/rods are quality, but I wouldn't pay the price for the name. Other names are just as impressive.
