After owning both a IX and a X, they both have nearly identical maintenance, ownership, and modification costs.

Speaking from a street use only car, you right except for tires. 17" tires are considerable cheaper in the common types (rs3 and z1 star spec) assuming stock fitment.

When you get to racing, the 8/9s usually run the big 18s so the cost is closer. But then you factor in the weight of the x kills tires and pads much faster.

And if you run an MR, your trans fluid is 5x what a standard 5 speed costs.

How so? A quick search of a few vendor websites shows pricing to be very similar for a basic "Stage 1" shortblock. Even if you put a hole in the block, the block core charges seem to only be around $400 in difference. Sleeves will obviously add cost, but the majority of builds don't require sleeves. Either way, glad you're happy with your VIII, and I'm sure whoever ends up buying your X will be happy too!

Actually found some cheap X blocks today lol. Where were they when mine died.

I can piece together a 4G63 pretty cheap compared to the 4B. But as time goes on 4B11 motors are becoming more and more available as people upgrade or blow them up.

Yeah whoever gets my X is going to have a blast. Fun Fun Fun car with the 2.2 and green. But I'm sure whoever ends up with it will put a bigger turbo on it. That motor should make whatever power anyone wants to make.

How long did you actually drive it before bailing? If it was so much fun why sell it? I am sure you didn't recover your investment on it, unless you purchased a turd of a IX.

The joke is that while it is cheaper, it's still very expensive relatively speaking.

But as JFo said.... priceless...

I didn't set FTD but I went pretty fast, got a good adrenaline rush, and beat my codriver so it was a good day.
Great shot of the car...it is time you spend the extra $50 and get some decent looking numbers, I bet Virgil can hook that **** up for next to nothing!

The difference between the stock open diff and the RS front diff is amazing. I can easily get power oversteer just by putting power down in a turn. It's way more gratifying than sliding out of a turn with understeer.

The upgraded rear diff makes it even better. Stiffer rear sway even better. Extra air in the rear tires even better. Little toe out in the rear... ok maybe too much.

Definitely a good plan. I run 18x10.5 wheels. You need at least a 10 if you want good support on 285 tires.

It is expensive. Which is why I built my Evo over 3 years. In the mean time, run what you brung.

The 9.5's would be perfectly fine too. 9 is a little on the small size and it's really easy to fit 9.5's. 10.5's are for only the most hardcore/crazy
