I think the clutch is gone...

Hey peeps. So Dana was driving her evo ('08 GSR, 70kish miles) and was not getting on it when shifting from 3rd to 4th. There was a pop, and then car went idle, she couldn't get it in to any gear, peddle down or not, car on or off. When pushing down the clutch, the engine flutters as well as the peddle when you have your foot on it. It looks like the actuator is still moving and engaging but nothing going into any gear. My guess is that the clutch or pressure plate went bang. Any idea's or suggestions off the tops of your heads? We live up in aubrey and it will be an arm and a leg to have the car toted down to Cobb, but will if its not an easy fix. Anyway, thanks all for reading and stay safe.

Ricky

Ok so got the car home this AM, and I can put the car in gear while its off, but not running. Also when I push the clutch in the car makes a weird sound, any ideas? It feels as if there is no pressure when pushing the clutch in, when before it was a heavy clutch and took a bit of effort. I'm not a mechanic but it seems as if something hydraulic went out.

Also, checked the fluids, and they are all topped off and I don't see a leak anywhere.

My guess is a broken TOB retainer ring on the pressure plate or the TOB came unclipped. Aftermarket clutch?

Ya, its definitely an aftermarket clutch. either way the case will need to be pulled right? If the clutch and plate are still good, how much is involved with replacing the bearing? Same amount of effort I am guessing.

You can see, there's almost no traffic on here over the weekends.
I've never had a problem like that, so i'm no help.
i would recommend a Mitsubishi/experienced mechanic.
My Evo8 clutch took forever because the thing is more complicated than most.
EvoD used to have the best prices on installs and thats who's do'n my next one

You may be able to reclip it by just giving the clutch fork a good yank. If you do get it to reclip, I highly suggest adding a clutch fork stopper to help prevent it from over-returning and coming unclipped again.
