1) what is your current mod list and what do you plan on adding to your engine?

2) are you keeping a stock block and head?

3) are you wrenching on the evo yourself, or are you taking it to a shop?

4) what are your power goals?

oh.... and 5) in your opinion, which is better: toaster pastries or poptarts?
1.) Current: Turboback Exhaust, UICP/LICP, Buschur Race FMIC, Walbro Pump (single), HKS 272 cams

Adding with the Turbo: Turbo, Injectors (780 to 880 depending on duty %), Exedy Twin Disc HD Clutch, Ported 02 Housing, Porting the turbo and intake, Buschurs new 84mm Mass Air Pipe, and obviously tuned. - Will get this done in February or early March. Want it done before the season starts.

2.) Staying stock for now. Would want to do some research on different engine builds. The car would still be 85-90% highway driven and 15-10% Beaver Runs North Track. No real interest in 1/4 racing, but might run it to see how it would do. I got to see how the 6speed trans. holds up before I go block/head route.

3.) Taking it out to Buschurs

4.) Well if you mean with what I'm currently doing, I'm certainly hoping for 410-420whp. I might be a little high on my hopes, but will see how far we can boost. Long term? It depends. I'd rather go E85 since that would be the cheapest route to more power instead of dropping a chunk of change on a new block/head. So long term power, I'd probably be just happy with 420whp. If I go E85, I'd like to get into the high 400s if not low 500s.

5.) Tough one. Blueberry toaster pastries

Problem is that I live about 25miles north of Cranberry which I believe is the closest E-85 station. I'd lose 50miles just in the trip alone. I don't see E-85 in the near future unless more stations go up around me or I get a huge storage tank.

Sounds sick.

First of all, blueberry toaster pastries... Rock on

second, you're in damn good hands with the Buschur crew.

I would just like to add upon what was already stated: if your goal is 400 hp, you are killing a fly with an anvil, especially on e85. Fp black with full bolt ons and some formula or ethanol will make you well over 400 without pushing the envelope. Fp black is the biggest baddest stock appearing snail available...just saying u may want to aim a lil higher on your power goals

Well I look at it like this:
Stock Block/Head + Black + 93 octane = 410-420whp (hopefully). Not sure since there aren't many results like this so far. Most people are running some sort of Meth/E85/Race Gas.

Stock Block/Head + Black + E85
= ~500whp. Should be ~80whp more than where the pump gas ends up.

Really depends on the tune. The only one I was able to get any real info on was Big Al's tune of stock engine /w Black Turbo on 880cc and they were running 90% duty. I believe the car was boosted at 25psi. Are there any downsides with going with bigger injectors and not really needing them? Would there be any idle/drive-ability issues?

I was just about to say that travis. I was running out of injector on 780ccs with my green. There are a few E-85 stations, one in monroeville, the other on the turnpike outside harmarville. In order to see the full power of that black you are going to need to get some internals (or change up the fuel to E-85 to keep things a little safer). Otherwise either you will be dialing it back, or risking the motor you have in there now. The 6 should be fine if you aren't dragging it, and as I said before, I would be more worried about the motor than the drivetrain, however sooner or later both will need attention.

Congrats on your purchase though, the black is a suck *** turbo. I am anxious to see one in person. It seems that FP is really trying to pull away from the BBK series, and with the advancements in the Green and now the introduction of the Black, I think that is becoming evident to many.

Congrats on the house travis, however you go about getting it.

Go Pens

Thanks for the tip on the your experience with the injectors. The last thing I want to do is even get close to running out. Obviously I'm not looking to put a set of 2000s. On my stock turbo, at 6800-7000rpms, I'm running about 98% duty. I do not want to be that close when I get the black on there. I'd rather be around 90% at peak power/performance.

Again, since I'm north of Cranberry, E85 just isn't feasible right now unless I get some sort of storage tank. Even then I would be stuck with getting a ton of 5 gallon cans and filling them up when I go down there. Unfortunately I sold my S10 when I bought my Corolla. That would have come in handy now.

And go Pens as well. Had a rough 5 game losing streak and finally broke it last game. Hope they got that out of their system.

I would go with a set of 1000 or 1200s. Pump gas you will have plenty, and might even have enough for a race gas or E-85 map, however you will be pushing it. I have had 0 drivability issues with mine, and with the tuning today, it is very easy to tune the larger injectors. IMO it is silly to get anything small today, as larger injectors give you room for more mods down the road, different fuels, and you would rather have too much than go too lean and risk your motor.

If you have a good tuner (BR will be great) you will have 0 driveability issues and will thank yourself later because they save you from upgrading your injectors many times.

jim just beat me to it^^

1000cc injectors should not significantly effect daily driving or idling.

its better to have more injector than you need than to run out of fuel or max out your injectors. if you max out your injectors every time you make a pull, the likelihood that one or more injector will fail over time is increased.

this can lead to obvious catastrophic failures under the right conditions

No not at all - if you pick a good set of injectors and they are tuned correctly.

I run ID1000's on my turd, my car idles and drives better than the stock injectors. Before those I ran 880's and the FIC 1050's - I made the switch due to the high impedance style bosch injector Injector Dynamics sells and all the perks that come with them. They are unlike any injector on the market and they seriously kick butt - i have tuned many injectors now (FIC, PTE, RC,etc) and none have been easier and more linear to tune than the ID's I run.

Also the bosch injectors will run up to 100psi base pressure and 100% duty cycle all day everyday reliably...on the ID1000's at 100 psi base pressure = 1600cc injector, so a dual pump and FPR is all u need to get more fuel out of them.

Oh and buschur jumped on the ID bandwagon not to long ago - he was late bloomer, but he sells and pushes them now....

I am a failure lol. BUT! I have the computer out here, and will be getting the handy cam on the 31st when I come back into PA. I am finishing up my car to get it drive ready.

I remember how bad you beat that mustang... They all anticipated you losing that race....
