Hey everyone have a ? ill try to make this as short as possible. i had my engine rebuilt and retuned by slowboy racing when they where in PA. it was tuned with an evo 9 bov...so after i got it back i put a turboxs rfl bov on but it leaked at high boost. i still left it on their for about a yr until i finally got fed up and put the evo 9 bov on...BUT...now the car has turbo flutter real real bad? any suggestions? plus only thing put on the engine since last yr is a oil catch can

The flutter could be from a number of things. You really noticed it once you swapped back to the 9 BOV though? How much boost are you running?

24 psi...i think i figured it out tho but only tried it in the garage yet to take it for a spin. the oil catch can must of been hooked up wrong because it was coming from the breather on the head to the catch can and back to the cold air intake tube. which i am guessing made a circuit for the air to come back around and cause the flutter. took the hose off the cold air and stuck a cap over the hole and seemed to fix the flutter!!!!

Little smaller than the one I was looking at, but looks like you made a good choice.

Well, the past few weeks I have been seriously considering doing one of the following...

1) Trade in the Evo, sell the Honda, and use the money I have saved up for one of the new 2010 MR Tourings and buy it outright.
2) Sell the Honda, use the money I have saved up and the sale money to put a really good down payment on the 2010 MR and finance the rest (provided Mitsu can get me a decent rate). This is contingent upon insurance rates for the two, and the payment schedule of the X. Like I said, I make no payments on all my cars, so this would be a new thing for me.

I own both the Honda and the Evo outright, owe nothing, I have saved up for cars almost my whole life, and don't really believe in financing things. I know if you have a decent job and can get a good rate, financing is the way to go, but it is just a matter of principle. I only use debit cards, etc.

Should I really pull the trigger on a new X? The loudness and rawness of the IX are just starting to get to me as a DD. My girlfriend drives the new 2010 TSX and I love the interior, space, Navigation, etc. I am getting ready to make a move to Miami in a few months for graduate school, and just need something a little more reliable and not a maintenance *****, but something that still won't lull me to sleep while driving.

Nice interior, style, and speed. I know those are hard to accomplish together, but it is something I would like to try and find.

Thoughts on the 2010? There would be no more modding, as I will have 0 time and no more nice big garage to work in. Also, I don't trust many to work on my cars, so unless Mike S. makes the move too, I will stop the modding game.

there is a third option. you could sell the honda, keep the IX and get something more tame for a DD and make the evo in a flat out race car.

that's my plan once the evo is payed off.

then you can have your raw hard nosed sports car, your cushy DD, and save some cash and not have to worry about financing.

unless you're really dead set on getting the XMR.

you could always sell the honda, keep the IX, finance the evo, then if at some point down the road you decide to you could always sell the IX and apply that money to your principle.

my thing is that with all the ct9a's short comings i would truly miss it if i sold it. that's just me though, i get very sentimental and attached to my cars.

-edit- just out of curiosity, what will you be going to grad school for?

Me too, I love this car when I drive it. I will hate myself if I sell it, but the interior is just pathetic, and I even upgraded all of the speakers, put in a sub and navi. Still nothing compared to similar cars in its price range out today. I am just starting to think about city living, driving the stick, how loud it is, maintenance etc.

I am not sure if I will have room to keep two cars down there, so I need to have a hard set DD, and another car I can keep up here for trips to visit home, etc. I will be living with friends in high rise apartments down there downtown, so 1 car a piece, and even that is a stretch. Parking and rent down there is astronomical. Its almost like people need to charge high rent to pay off the buildings they have because their financing through the bank was hideous to begin with... Smart people those developers...

yeah i agree with you 100% about the interior. you figure for the same money you could have a bmw 3 series, or comparable audi with a much nicer interior.

it always amuses me when i talk to someone who doesn't know what the evo is and see their reaction to how much it costs. then you have to sound like a dweeb saying "no no no you don't understand, what you actually get is..."

are you planning on staying in miami after you finish your grad work? down there having a convertible would actually be rather practical.

if you do decide to sell the IX before you move let me know, i wouldn't mind trying to hammer out a deal with you for those kw's.

If anything I would try and sell the car as a whole, but I'll keep that in mind. I still can't believe I am even considering it. I remember when I bought it from Baierl brand new I said I would never part with it, but getting older (im only 23) and now the city living with no garage. I see it as a problem on the horizon.

I am going for my PhD in Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry at UMiami, so I will be there for at least 5 years for school, but even after that, it is the hub for marine sciences in the US, so I will probably stay.

Somewhere down the road when I have a house, I would LOVE to have this car, but for now I can't afford to make the insurance payments on it while letting it 1) sit in a garage in Pittsburgh or 2) constantly have to pay shops to do work that I could do if I had a garage.

I don't even know what I should ask for on private sale, or how much I could even get for it if I traded it in... So confused. At least I have a little time (~5 months) to make up my mind.

That's a tough decision bro. I will say that having a comfy DD and the Evo as a weekend car isn't so bad, but paying all that insurance on 2 cars sucks when each one is only driven half time, at best.

You could always sell the Honda, move down there and play it by ear? No need to make any decisions you will regret, right?

You could check the local forums down there and see if there are any reputable shops in the area.

BTW You both have IX's, so you're one up on me! JJ, I'm sure you remember
