Hi guys. New to the forum...but an old owner. I have had my evo for a few years now. I am finally getting my brembos looked at for the clear peeling issue there at the new location next week, hopefully they will okay it under warranty...

if the car is under warranty still you should not have a problem......unless there is modifications done to the brake system (then its a crap shoot imo).

I had mine replaced in my 2004 a long time ago (dont even own it anymore) but i still had stock pads and stock brake lines - they told me at the time if anything on the brake system was not factory there was nothing they could do....

warranty items period are a crap shoot....hope it works out for u

Wanted to ask you guys as well. I just got my data logging cable for EvoScan. What information should I start with logging? There are TONS of items, but what should I really be concerned with?

Also, Should you hook up the cable prior to starting the car?

Timing, knock, coolant temp, rpms, afrs if you have a wideband are a must every time. Other than that, as much as you can without severely affecting the sample rate.

i like to add in rpm and speed as well. helps me put the log in to context a bit easier.

Let us not forget "load" - 2byteload or 1byteload if applicable. Calculated load can be used but not as accurate - you have to make changes to the MUT table in the rom to be able to log any of those load values. Which if you haven't - probably should.

You need load so you can see where your at on a particular map (afr, timing) as they are setup as Load vs. RPM

There are also "load+temp+baro" and "load+temp" - these are other types of load to log for even better accuracy as the timing and fuel map follow these load conditions under certain situations......obviously you get fairly close with the other load values but just wanted to throw these out there as well.

Typically I log the following (like the others have stated):

TPS
RPM
Knock
Timing
IPW
In. Duty %
Air Temp
Coolant Temp
Fuel trims(low, mid, high,ST) - not always needing to be logged unless you have aftermarket injectors and need to get them dialed in or keep an eye on them if somethings is acting screwy on the car.
Speed

If applicalble:

Map - need 3 or 4 bar map sensor + rom mods
Wideband - Need actual wideband
lb/min - need a calc for an injector type or the airflow calc patch applied
2byteload (MUT table changes required)
1byteload - (tehpra rom needed which includes the MUT changes)
- I like the 1 byte load because it doesnt slow the logging speed down as much as 2byte and also has lesschance of error or "dropping out".

Yes hook the cable up first - start car - start logging.......or if you want to log the car from start up - turn the ign to run, start logger, start car, continue logging while running.

Not disputing, just correcting because I just don't like to see a posted untruth.... Tire pressure will not have any affect on what speed you hit rev limiter in 4th gear. Agreed, it can help drop 60' times, but that isn't what you were saying before. Congrats on the 11

the front of that lambo and r8 are mean as hell. I agree though, the X looks intimidating from the front, shes a big b****.

I was reading that people were in need of a spring compressor to remove some springs from their car, I have a set of 2 if anyone needs to borrow them.

I had just taken my car up to Mike a month or so ago and he is replacing three of my four calipers from the peeling clear coat on warranty. He had also put in SS brake lines for me, after I did the caliper and pad swap. And yes, if your looking for someone to take in for some work, he is the man!

So, my little question to you guys, more of asking suggestions and your opinions on shortblocks. I have looked at the BR 2.2, the TTP 2.0 and the AMS 2.27 . Mike suggested I go with calling a few shops and seeing what motors they had custom built but not used, or not sold since its almost the end of the season in the east. He also suggested Kamispeed and I have a call into them about building me one.

Now, this being said. My car will be made mostly for the street, but I want to be able to track it if necessary. I just want a bad *** machine that can handle anything I throw at it. I am going to tear it up for this upgrade, and I don't want to have to do it again. So, money is somewhat a factor, but performance and reliability is paramount. Like it is always said, you have to pay to play, and I will pay now to forgo problems down the road..

Comments, suggestions...

Edit: I will also be taking the tranny and Tcase into shep for an upgrade, so anything else that needs to be done to support the power is already being considered. Just let me hear your suggestions on the block. I will change the turbo down the road if I want even more, but I want to see what this thing is made of first.
