Yeah, no plans whatsoever on getting a SPEC twin. Exedy twin is most likely out of the price range. I just haven't heard alot of input on their single disc stage 2+ model. Again, can't afford the downtime of rebuilding the transmission through TRE. Even if Mike rebuilt it, it would probably not be much cheaper and he explained that the same thing would happen again. Additional mods would only accelerate the degeneration of the 6spd.

My car is currently sitting at a little over 63,000 miles. Input shaft started making noise at around 60,001 miles. With the power your making Bushnerj, it is most likely only a little matter of time before your 6spd follows mine.

Shame Exedy doesn't make the SD twin anymore. I was very pleased with mine.

You guys got good mileage out of your 6spds. I had about 4000 miles on mine when 2nd and 3rd gear syncros killed themselves. At the time i got it replaced Mike said that had come out with a revision to the input shaft that was supposedly a bit stronger. At the time, the car had 0 launches and 0 trips to any sort of track.

My 2 cents worth - id get the 6spd rebuilt by TRE and forgo the Shep build for the time being. Good luck with the rebuild Dave.

Not enough torque holding capacity and too many complaints of slipping discs. The HD is the standard high torque pressure plate now.

I would do it if my car was not my DD, but I can't afford to have my car be down for over 3 weeks. Thanks for the support and advice, but I need this to be fixed by next week unless someone has a beater they want to loan me for a daily fee. Still open to suggestions on clutches...thanks.

I'd offer up my used stock clutch. It has 30k miles on it with 0 slippage.

It may get you by short term, but not sure about long term.

I'm probably doing the 5 spd swap. Also leaning toward just getting another ACT HDSS clutch kit...1 time slippage with the way I've driven it over the past 40,000 miles isnt bad. I could get it for around $550 or so. Probably just get my flywheel resurfaced to save a few bucks there. Depending on how much labor Mike is going to charge me (i'm guessing about $600), i'm looking at about $4600 total. As long as my bank (mom) will give me the loan, I'll see if she's cool with me paying her back at $250/mo for the next 19 months. I'd rather spend the money now and never have to worry about my transmission again.

I wish I had known how similar the final drives are between the GSR and MR. If I had known how close they are, I probably never would have bought the MR. Oh well...

Its 0%, but there is a stipulation that in the event that she becomes senile the only home I can put her in is my own.

Personally, I'd rather opt for an interest rate, haha.

well since i just got a clutch put in maybe 700 miles ago i can say im pretty pleased with it and cant see why i wouldnt recomend it. I had to go for a cheap and affective route so i got the ACT 6-puck and HD plate. i cant say anything bad about it, and since you come from an ACT im sure your aware of the lockout issues. That may become a problem later but ill have to see.

idk if its just me getting usto it or if the clutch has gotten worn in to where its easier (surely a mix of the two) but its no problem to drive at all... easy DD if you were considering it. and its still got the aggressive side when its supposed to,,, *i have to be less aggressive with the shifts sometimes, for sake of the TC*

oh btw, $500 on that i believe

I went with the TTP/ACT 6-puck and have been satisfied...ran 11.9 on it this year, and still drive the car daily.

i believe it came in a box labeled HDG6....I have had no lock-out issues that people complain about with the full face ACT.
