Ask for a receipt of parts from the mitsu dealer for proof of purchase, only place they can buy them.

and I don't recommend body work through a dealer - im living that nightmare, go to a good body shop since your not paying for it. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get that option being warranty work and its a never ending battle.

detectors may not be useful

i am very familiar with the roads we will be driving on, so there are some spots where we can cruise, and on parts of the back roads, even doing the speed limit can be hairy at times

i am sure one or two radar detectors will show up as well, to add another layer of security.
I recently got a speeding ticket and did some research only to find out that local police in PA use only VASCAR which does not show up on a Radar Detector. Only state troopers are authorized to use Radar. I suggest slowing down to the unrealistic set speed limits as soon as we see VASCAR lines on the road. Other than that, I do not know what else can work.

they don't even need vascar lines anymore. it sucks.

they can use two points a known distance apart such as telephone poles, or they have a new toy that is basically a set of IR reflectors they setup at a known distance.

i just try to solve the problem by driving the speed limit.

Makes me think, if they do use IR, which is the same as Laser, would a laser jammer be of use? Of course, I would only consider answering this question if it was even legal to have a laser jammer in PA.

laser jammers are 100% legal in pa. reason being, lasers are light and therefore do not fall under the jurisdiction of the FCC.

since radar is a radio wave, fcc controls it's usage and counter usage. and they wouldn't want you running a radar jammer since it could seriously interfere with things like planes landing.

i don't think the laser jammer would work on IR beams though, because from my understanding, they're not aimed at the car.

they would function in a similar fashion to timing equipment at an autocross. once the first beam is broken, the counter starts. then the counter stops when the second beam is broken. assuming a nearly constant speed with near 0 acceleration you can use v = d/t to find the velocity of the vehicle.

So now, all I have to come up with is a way of detecting the IR and relaying it to the reciever so it does not know somebody/something crossed its path.

Even better, I should probably just build a small EMP gun that will disable it.

Sorry, I've been watching too many science fiction and action movies recently. I know I know, I need to snap out of it. Like one of the other members posted, maybe I should just stick to the limit. but where's the fun in that!

ha, an EMP gun would be sweet.

but could we be trusted with that kind of weaponry?

coming to think of it, nobody in my family trusts me even with the EVO. Hell, even the cops dont trust a guy with an EVO. I bet their first instinct is "That guy MUST be speeding with a car like that....".

Ah well, what's wrong with some wishful thinking, its what keeps me going.

Yeah, when on the highway, radar is fair game. In the city and 'burbs, gotta watch for VASCAR lines as well as the black electrical strips that they lay on the roads known as ENRAAD. Now, they are even using a new form of ENRAAD which uses IR/RF signals to relay the speed - they use metallic antennae-looking things that stick up from the ground spaced about 6 ft apart.

I get away with speeding pretty much all the time. You just have to know where you can get away with it and where you can't. Always check your 6 frequently and scan the sides of the road for any apparent areas that a cop could be hiding. For how often I speed, I should have a hell of a lot more tickets. I'm just smart with my speeding the majority of the time.

I've average one ticket every year, but i've had many of them taken off with a lawyer's help and some of them never made it to my record since I move between states so much and change my licenses frequently due to the nature of my job.

I missed the whole ticket talk... I'm up to FIVE total now. I think I posted up on here each time I got one, lol!

My record is a 73 in a 25mph!

I've tried all the excuses in the world to police officers. I've tried being honest, making up a story about the holiday season gitters, and fighting with my G/F. Nothing seemed to work. However, I have learned that sometimes certain officers do appreciate cooperation and honestly. The bad thing is by then you have to convince the magistrate and the cop at the same time.

As much as I hate to recommend them, Biondi does have a good body shop. I had no complaints about any of the work they did on my VIII. Paint matched perfectly. They had to bring in Sickens representatives to make sure they matched the paint exactly. They also took samples of my old hood for future use. As far as mechanical work goes, the guy did a pretty good job. Everything was cool except for my WGA which was broken and wouldn't open at all! I pulled out of the shop and boosted to 35 psi. But that's another story.

Brian, if you want, give Biondi's body shop a call and see if they'll give you my paint code. I think they're all universal so it shouldn't matter if they're using PPG, Sickens, Dupont, etc. The code should be the same. That's your main concern.
