Hehe.... yeah, I wasn't there to check out girls. I was there to check out evos. But I DID glance at her out of the corner of my eye. I'll take a closer look when I go back. Anyways, thanks for the sound advice on Ricart and Dennis. Dennis DEFINATELY seemed like BS. Ricart - I can see them being not the best too. And Roby, yeah they definately seem like tight-wads but you're prolly right that you'll get the best service from them (Mike is the guy I talked to there - fat guy with little hair). Maybe I SHOULD check out that Cincy place. I've heard several people mention that on here. Just seems inconvienient cause I definately don't want to buy an evo that's been sitting on the lot for a while. I'd rather have one ordered and know for a fact that NO ONE's test driven it or screwed around with it. And if I'm gonna have it ordered, might as well do it from a dealer that's close rather than far. Anyways, thanks for all the advice. I'll keep you guys posted.

mdosu - is invoice for an '05 EB VIII just a pipe dream? Or do you think I could actually get that? ...

Went to both Roby and Dennis today. Here's how it happened. At Roby, after a bit of hagling and talking they quoted me at $30200 for a EB '05 VIII. I told Mike that I wanted invoice ($29000) but that was the best he could give me. So I told him I was gonna go to Dennis to see what they could give me. Went to Dennis, and all I can say is wow. First the moron thought I was actually gonna buy today. NEVER indicated that I was gonna do that, just wanted a quote. When he found that out, and that I was also talking to Roby he got pissed and pretty much said he wasn't gonna give me a quote until he knew I was serious. I told him I was serious and asked if he could beat $30200. He said yes. I asked by how much, he said I can't tell you until you're serious. I guess I can understand why he might not have wanted to give me one, because then I'll go to Roby and have them beat it, then back to Dennis and have them beat Roby's, then back to Roby and have them beat Dennis', and so on and so forth until they both beat each other into the ground. So basically he didn't want to show all his cards. So I was like, ok fine, I'll write you guys down for $30000. Then, interestingly, he was like "you might as well write down $28000 because DENNIS IS NUMBER ONE IN COLUMBUS AND WE'LL BEAT ANYBODY!!" But so the thing is, he wasn't quoting me at $28k, he was just bragging that he could beat any dealer. So that tells me: any of these dealers could sell me an evo for $28k if they really HAD to, but of course none of them want to go there unless it's absolutely necessary. That leads me to believe that getting one for invoice ($29000) is definately a real possibility. Am I correct? Or am I dreaming?

yeah that's right, take it to Dennis...lol! If I could I would take the EB at invoice even if it is at that shathole Dennis...

But just do a search on this forum...everyone who got an 05 usually would post how much they paid....then use that as your biggest bargining chip. But seriously, don't even talk numbers till you are ready to buy...b/c the more you do this, the less erious they will take you.

But if you can take EB at invoice...man that'll be awesome...EB is hard to find. But when you're ready to buy, i would just call up a dealer down in cincy, roby, and dennis and say if you let me walk out with invoice, i'll drive down tomorrow and pick it up. They might want your signature on some paper...but just do it...b/c you're serious, right? That's what I did with my car when I "reserved" it for like 2 weeks. I signed intent to buy...faxed them proof of money...and driver's license (with SSN blocked out) and picked it up 2 weeks later.

I know you're just shopping now, but seriously, only haggle when you're ready to buy, for your case...sooner or later they'll think you're not serious.
good luck, and when you do happen to get one, PM me, we'll meet up!

I was close to Dennis today around 3:00, thought about stopping buy to see the Evo's there..might have saw you...lol

hehe... dude. I AM SERIOUS! That's why I'm haggling. Cause when the price gets to where I want it, I'm buying. I wouldn't be going through all this trouble of bargaining with these guys if I was just "shopping". But yeah, that's good advice - just telling them that if they let me have it for invoice it's a done-deal and I'll be down to sign the papers. I might do that. Secure the loan from my credit union, give all of them a call and see who says yes. Prolly a good idea to check that Cincy dealer too.

hehe.... so you were near Dennis at around 3? I think it was more like 4 when I was there. If you saw a yellow VW GTI parked outside, that was me. It's a hard car to miss. And yeah, we'll definately have to meet up once i get this thing. Maybe we can start being as organized as the Cincy crowd. haha

PS - Just to be sure, when you say "invoice" that doesn't include Tax/Title/License and D/H fee, right? So you're saying that $29k plus TTL plus DH = $32k is a good deal, right? Thanks for all the help, bro.

The site is mostly DSMs but there are a number of EVO owners on there as well.

Heh... not yet. Car shopping only happens on the weekends. Round 3 will be this weekend. Wish me luck. If they give it to me for invoice $29k (=> $32k OTD) I'll sign the papers and give the green light for them to order it. If they dont, the haggling continues...

Sorry to take away from Nadzerin's thread, but unfortunately nothing is in yet, I'm going to wait till I get headstuds to put all in at once. I will probably spend the the weekend after next putting it all on back home in dayton. I'm still deciding if I want to get a test pipe or run the cat.
