Question for the Columbus, Ohio Crew

Hey guys. What's goin on? Just moved to Columbus and just joined evolutionm. Have been an avid evom reader for quite some time, but just now decided to join and start posting. Anyways, I want to buy a VIII in the Columbus area and was just wonderin if you all have any recommendations for dealers. Where did you guys buy your VIIIs? I'm looking to buy new. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Hope to meet up with some of you once I buy my evo! Thanks.

Hey Cols. I would suggest Ricart or Roby. I'm in Cols also. Anyone going to Buchur on Sat?

Come down to Cincinnati. Performance Mitsubishi at Kings Auto Mall has about 11 EVOs on the lot. They have an MR, several RS's and the standard 05s. They are some great sales guys and will work their magic to get you in the car you want. Most of the time they will even let you test drive it. They have sold over 75 EVOs since they came to the US. They claim to be the largest EVO dealer in the entire US. Give them a shot.

Not to mention there is a rather large EVO following here in Cincy. It would be great to have you come down.

Paul

Awesome - glad to know there are a couple more Cbus/Cinci guys on here. Yeah, definately seems like there's a bigger Cincy group than Columbus though. So Performance Mitsubishi at the Auto Mall in Cincy, huh? Maybe I'll have to go check that out. That's cool they keep test driving down to a minimum. I know I don't want to buy an evo that's been test driven before. I can't wait to get my evo. I currently drive a '98 GTI VR6 which, though it's not particularly fast by any standard, I have a lot of fun driving. If I think that's fun then I can't wait to feel what it's like in an evo. But yeah, Paul, I'll have to come down to one of your meets when I get it. Thanks for the info and the invite.

Ricart may not have any left...I think they decided to get rid of their Mitsu dealership...

As for Roby...you can rest assure the Evo you are getting hasn't been abused...but that just means they are super **** on who gets to test drive one...I bet they are not too flexible on price...they've had the silver and black SSL evo's there forever! both are 04s. good luck on your hunt, but i would try Cincinnati or Cleveland...I picked mine up in Chicago.

Yeah, just went to Roby today. Black and Silver 04s are still there. I talked to Mike. He quoted me MSRP: $30699 plus D/H fee plus TTL. To me MSRP seems high for Ohio area. I'd expect to get it for around invoice: $28928. Am I dreaming on that? And why'd you buy in Chicago? Aren't they much more expensive up there? I plan on hitting up Dennis and maybe Ricart if they're still around.

yeah 30K for 04 is way too high. Just tell them how much ppl are paying out their door for 04 Evo's in the midwest and walk out, no need to lie b/c 30k is way too high. Heck, tell them what ppl are paying forf 05's out the door, it's pretty close to their offer too. They're doing it b/c I think now, they are teh only ones in town with Evos. Dennis might still have 2, but all the sales people there are ghetto and f*ed up and just plain dishonest. I would not buy anything there...they've screwed over so many people before on other cars, mostly used, and on parts.

Ricart is just as bad, but like what I said before, they're getting out of the Mitsubishi line, they still might have a couple left...just in November, they still had 4 Evos there...but I don't see them outside anymore when I drive by.

Best bet is still Cincy...

I bought mine in Chicago b/c it was used and a great deal for a flawless car. No regrets about it at all.

Yeah, so I went to Dennis and Ricart today. At Dennis they were complete *******s, and, like you said, they struck me as real dishonest. I was like "I'm looking for an '05." The dude was like "No one can get them anymore. They're all gone." I was like "What? That's not what Roby and Ricart said. They said they could order one for me." Then the dude was like "Oh, ok maybe I can talk to my manager and order one." I was just like whatever. But the guy at Ricart was actually pretty cool surprisingly. He said he'd try and hook me up but since it was Sunday he'd have to wait till Monday to check on if they can order any or whatever. We'll see what happens. I'm still confident these dealers will see that I'm serious about buying and that I'm not a dumbass and that they'll fight it out amongst them to get my business. I'm almost sure I'm gonna buy an evo. It all depends on who's gonna give me the best deal.

Dennis Mitsubishi can go to hell...f* them...I never will buy parts from them, I hope all Evo's and DSM ppl won't either...they don't know ***-crack about cars, how to service them...anything...

The only caution for Ricart is...they can be very dishonest in the back office...so don't get a loan thru them...just get a loan thru a bank or another institution, or just pay cash.

Here's a hate website for Ricart documenting all their bad dealings...as you notice alot of the complaints are with used cars and loans itself.
www.columbusconsumer.com

My friend also had problems getting diff. and T-case fluids changed there..their service guys suck.

The only good place is Roby...once again, the problem is, their sales people are cocky as hell and is really hard on the price...but as what I said in my last post with Roby...know true market value of the 04...tell them the only price you're willing to settle at...show them papers you've been approved up to that amount...and don't feel bad walking out.
They'll know you're serious if you actually have the loan papers or cash ready everytime you see them.

...that and if you go back the next day and keep insisting the same price, plus you get the see the cool Lotus and Vipers cars there being serviced there...the parts and service guys are cool...

btw, who's your Roby salesperson contact...I think the new guy there who started like 5 months ago is Jeff...he might be desperate for a high margin sale...work him...
Their secertaries are pretty hot too..work her too , I always flirt with them whenever I buy parts there.

Columbus def is not the place to go for an Evo...sorry...

I got mine from performance mitsu in mason(in cincy). Theres another mitsu dealership like a mile away. What I did was call both in sequence and got them to beat each others price before I even went to cincy. It might work for you. I wish I could remember the other dealerships name. There are a bunch of evos in columbus, within the last few days I've seen 5 I had never seen before, nice guys though, always get waves or nods from them. I just never have time to stop and talk when I see them.
