I had a friend go to Pruven to get tuned and it was a mess! They were late to tuning his car, they were telling him he needed all these other parts that he didn't need or want, And wen it all cam down to it the tuning was HORRIBLE! The car ran like **** until it was retuned...BIG for Pruven and i know this is n't the first story like it.

I recommend TurboTrix. It's a little bit of a ride, but it's worth it. They tuned a bunch of my friends cars and did great! My one friend even had a bad engine knock and it ended up blowing, but rather then give him the cold shoulder they made it right and helped him rebuild! GREAT GUYZ OVER THERe!

That's not even close to the first story I've heard like that about Pruven... I sat in Pruven for 14 (yes 14) hours getting my car tuned last year, and saw it all first hand. They have customer cars there for months at a time, and they take NO time to explain what they're doing. They have a condescending attitude and I've heard from several people that they've kept cars there overnight with no advance notice.

Now that Al's working with the Shop, I would expect to see his mood improve as well. He's pretty psyched at the new beginning, and if you're around good people like Jimmy, it's gotta rub off a little. Being around negative people like Dan and company at Pruven has to bring a brother down...

I wont' tell you where to go, but I couldn't be happier w/ the work that i've had done at ICS in Stamford. Everytime I go in there they couldn't be nicer and George owns an evo himself. They are really good people too. I had to get my clutch replaced and they went out of there way to get the clutch pulled the night before so it could be installed the next morning. Never heard anything bad and I will continue to use them, whether Evo, BMW, Corvette, etc...

I know Kyle from autox. We did an evo school together years ago and I see him occasionally at other events. I'm just starting to find issues with my alignment more often than I'd like. My other choice is Fairfield County Motorsport, haven't used them yet since I know they are expensive but they have also done the prep work on Matt Davia's One Lap winning Porsche. Thanks for Kyle's contact info, I'll give him a shout.

Well a lot of malcontent for XX, but they still have yet to treat me wrong, so I can only go by my own experience. Plus the new shop is pretty sweet that they have.

Pruven does decent work, I havent seen anything come out of there bad. but I wasnt fond of Dan the owner at all. I like when the shop will actually talk to you about what they are doing to your car, and what they recommend.. etc.

I havent dealt with The Shop but I have heard all good things about their work.

I guess it all depends on what you want done.
If you want extensive work done, I would recommend going the extra drive and go to Turbo Trix, you won't be disappointed with them at all.

Eveyone has their opinion and thats OK. Just like to point out that I have never been rude, obnoxious, or stepped out of line with ANY customer. If you have had a personal experience with me or my shop that was not up to your standards, I have not heard about it. I wouldn't have a problem discussing it so I can understand what you are refering to. We are in our 9th year of business doing the same quality work we always have been and we will continue to do so.

Thank you,

Dan

I can only assume you are talking about another tuner that was using our facilities at the time. We have always done our own tuning with the exception of flashing factory ECU's. We are a certified HKS Pro dealer and tune just about any system out there. If this was an ECU re-flash, I am sure it was done by another tuner. We had a cooperative deal with local ECU reflasher to rent our facilities and we would not get into the ECU re-flashing, however we have recently parted ways with this ECU tuner and are now doing our own ECU flashes. Some of the reasons we parted ways with this tuner is because of customer satifaction with this guy. The customers cars were never tuned on time, they were given false information, they were treated poorly, parts were forced on them, etc... However if your friend is not happy with his tune , he should contact his tuner and give him a chance to make things right. Unless this approach has been tried , I don't think this is the place to voice complanits for your freind here with out some previous type of resolution with the original tuner. From you post, unfortunatly it seems as you friend has been retuned already by some other tuner. I would have liked to redyno his car ( at no charge) to see what was wrong with it.
I hope you friend has better luck.

Thank you,
Dan

Yes, We know Jimmy at The Shop. He was a good worker and a quick learner when he worked for me at Pruven.

Again, this was a 3rd party tuner. Because of situations like this, we have stopped doing business with this tuner. The attitude you are talking about did not come form any of the guys that are from Pruven. This tuner just rented my shop. Just to clear the record, no car ever took 14 hours to tune ( with whoever was tuning). If you were there that long it was because of this 3rd party tuner that was late or whatever the problem was. This tuner should have explained to you what was going on and possibly rescheduled. However some things are just beyond control and have to be dealt with as they come. This business is not a production line factory and unfortunatly DOES NOT always run like clock work. Bolts break, customers don't always come on time, cars don't tune as quicly as others, the orginal job turns into something else as there are additional problems, etc... All beyond control and I could give you 10 examples a week where this happens. It happens all the time and there are ALWAYS delays beyond control. I hope this clears things up.

Thank you,
Dan

Since we are on the tuning subject I'd like to quickly mention a paticular situation about a previous customer of this other tuner. I'll just talk about this one customer as I have plenty of other one to talk about, but I don't want to be here all day and night.

This car belongs to a famous SCCA racer that travels all over the US to compete in there races. This other tuner tuned his car for prevoius years. We were only the mechanics of his car while this other tuner did all his reflashing. Just for the record, this car had to reatin his facory ECU for the T2 class he was in. Unfortunatly this car could not win a race recent times. Even with the Evo 8 to Evo 9 motor conversion we did.

The owner of this car decided to stick with us when we parted ways with this other tuner. We now are the tuners of this car. Since we tuned tuned the car he has been to 2 races. Both 1st place finishes. One at Seabring and the other in Homestead.

Anyway just wanted to share the information as we are excited about our customers new winning record. Good luck everyone with thier car.

Thank you,
Dan

Wow I haven't seen this many posts from Pruven all at once ever!

I've heard good things about the Shop in Ct - but from the one time I was at Pruven, they did an excellent job.

+1 for Pruven.
