looking for the best evo shop in ct
is that cause you were waiting to get tuned or get parts installed....if both, what parts were you waiting on to get installed?
When tuning cars occassionaly delays can and will result. I can not speak to other tuners but for myself, I find that a tuning session is usually both a ecu mapping process (what I do) and also a diagnostic test to determine if the power delivery is on line with what we would expect for a given modification level.
If the power level is low of the shape of the curve is not right often some mechanical issue in the car may be casuing the problem.
Often problems are encountered which require additional efforts - for example:
Boost leak tests
Changing spark plugs
Boost controllers that dont work properly and need to be re-routed
Cam timing checked
Compression test
Exhaust leak
Etc
When I am tuning, I am not tying to rush the customer out as quickly as possible
In fact, I really enjoy my work and we take our time to make sure the tune is as good as it can be
The way I conduct my business its a FLAT FEE for the dyno time and reflash tune so the customer does not pay any addditional charge if it takes longer to get the car done
Yesterday for example we tuned a auto trans 2004 WRX which wound up being on the dyno for nearly 7 hours and road testing and adjustment for an additional hour. While this is an extreme situation, in this case that is how long it took to tune a complicated, highly modified vehicle and the result was a really nice running Subaru that ran as smooth as a stock car and hauled ***.
The customer paid the same low price we charge for any reflash tune tune and Jimmy took care of fixing some boost leaks, un zip tied vac hoses and removing the stock air horn in the fender all free of any charge - the customer was very pleased with the outcome and did not mind it took us longer than expected - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1185716
I would suggest that customers comming to get tuned plan for a few hours in case any unexpected delays result. This way it can be a pleasurable and enjoyable process. Usually it takes about an hour and a half to two hours to base line the car on the dyno, tune it and do a careful road test afterwards.
On occassion we take a bit longer.
The main point is we don't charge you anything extra if we wind up taking longer - we are not running the clock on you and we are prepared to stay open as long as we need to to complete your car 100%.

Again I am not *****ing at Dragin, I don't have a problem with the dude, I don't even know him, and I never called him a liar, I am just wondering why there is all of the hardcore bashing going on here, and he is not the only one.
Are you the guy he was talking about before, with the work done "backwards."
The guy asked for recommendations, not for people to trash their least favorite shop, right? There are plenty of shop I think are amateur and crappy in CT, but have i mentioned them or how they will murder you if you walk through the dooor? Nope, I just mentioned the one i recommend. Yes I asked him why he hated XX and he gave an explanation and then went above and beyond what was called for along with many others in this thread.

If you had a negative experience with a certain place wouldn't you warn a family member or friend that was thinking about going there? I don't believe anyone involved in this thread is coming into this thread with the sole purpose of bashing this particular shop. Positive experiences and negative experiences help with decision making.
I'm not the owner of the car with the motor in question. I did however stop by the shop fixing this motor and to the damage first hand.
The off-topic in this post has gotten a little out of hand, I really think that everyone should get back to the topic of the post and just recommend shops to the kid.

XK120 - I can appreciate your unswerving allegiance to Bishop garage, but this is completely untrue.
Everybody has "Talked to a guy, who talked to a guy who heard...." Your information is coming from an ex-employee, who would probably be Scott Brewer (Dragin) and his wife EvoPuma (Lisa I believe?) who had a bitter ending with us. His intention is only to bash us, nothing more.
Have we ever blown up an Evo on the dyno? Fact is No, we haven't tuned a ton of EVO's, probably around 50 or so, but the ones that we have tuned are still out there racing and driving.
Have we had issues with Subaru's and STi's? In the last Four years we have tuned over 5,000 WRX's and STi's here.. When you do that volume of cars, things can and will happen. We have always worked with the customers in situations like this.
We have been in business as a performance shop for almost ten years now. We have seen people come and go, Dragin is one of those people. Scott, do you really want to bring up the dirt? You bought a part of a business with your wife, and you failed at it. "XX Tuning" had nothing to do with this. You opened your own shop, and you failed at it, you moved to Florida to work at a performance shop, yet you are back in CT so that leads me to think you haven't succeeded at that either. I assume you have gotten the calls from all the creditors and vendors that you absolutely screwed over when you left CT? You blame us for all your bad luck in CT, give it up already. We see you bash us on here, but the fact is, go to the other forums such as NASIOC or IWSTI and look at our reviews. I'm really sorry you are so bitter about your flopped business, but please stop placing the blame on us for that.
As for the Evo with the stroker, you are saying the motor is screwed in it? Then it must be the Buschur or Cosworth built motor that had the pistons in it reversed, since we do not build our own motors.
As for anybody else who has any interest in our shop or the work we do, stop down, talk to any of our guys here, we will gladly give you a tour and show you what we can do and what we are about. First hand knowledge is the best knowledge. Feel free to check us out on other forums, our website or our myspace page.. This will give you an idea of who we are and the kind of work we do. This bashing and he said she said stuff is just typical internet warrior games that we simply do not participate in.

Danny, (I assume) I'm not going to get into it more with you because it would just be a bunch of finger pointing back and forth and it's personal. These people don't wanna hear it and it wouldn't be fair to include them in our personal past. I've said my opinion. You have a right to yours. I'll leave it at that.

You have bashed us endlessly. You say you want to stop, yet you continue to bring up only your opinion of us and our work along with mysterious cars that have ridiculous issues. The fact is that your opinion of us has NOTHING to do with our work and our ability to provide the customer with good service, it has to do with something entirely different. Your statements are based on a deal gone bad with a purchase of a business that failed on your end, that is the fact without getting into torturous details.
If you want to end the finger pointing and bashing, that's fine. Give me a call at the shop if you want to finish this once and for all. I'd be glad to bury any and all bad feelings you and your wife have towards us and me personally.

We definitely appreciate those kind words. We are doing this work for a living. This is not our hobby. We do this professionally. When people come on here and say negative things without merrit, it gets to the point where we have to come on and defend ourselves. Unfortunately, you never know who is on the other end of the keyboard. It could be a digruntled ex-employee, a 17 year old with no car, a 40 year old who knows nothing about the auto world other than owning a driver's licence, or someone who just holds a grudge. You just never know, whether it be about us or any shop for that matter.
Again thanks for the nice words. We appreciate your business..... past , present, and in the future!
Thanks,
Dan

I have personally met Dan and been to his shop. Stand up guy and an amazing fabricator.

Ummm I don't think your are quite understanding. An employee of pruven DID tune the car #1, #2 we were there for about 12hrs, literally. Very unprofessional to set an appointment only to have to wait there forever.
i gotcha...you're right, i was assuming you were being tuned by an outside tuner that was working out of Pruven.
Also what was it tuned with?
