It's the "thin blue line" it's some kind of effort put fourth by habitual speeders and traffic offenders to make themselves into "people who know people", trying to fool cops into thinking that they have relatives that are cops, thus getting out of a ticket. It pretty much doesn't work 'cause you can buy the stickers on ebay.

Bimmubishi is 100% correct.. Its for "people who know people in the force" and its usually on cars of those doing 15mph over the speed limit! Cuz they have "connections"..

The "thin blue line is correct". It stands for the police being the line between law abiding citizens and criminals ( you know, like the ones with the loud exhaust LOL ) Anyway, our town PD has those plates on the front of their cruisers. When it first started out, it was for police officers to put on their private vehicles to identify them to other police officers. But now they are almost worthless cuz you can get them on ebay like you said.

Their is a way to identify the ebay fakes..I won't say what.

And if you have one, but you can't name the person you are "connected" to...you'll get whatever is coming to you.

Better off actually knowing someone and calling them if you need the help.

I dont believe there is such a thing as a fake. It is only reflective tape. How you get caught as a fake is when you get pulled over and you are not an officer or the spouse of an officer. Then, I would think, you would get whatever is comming and then some for trying to fake your way through.
There is also a red stripe for firefighters, although I dont see what the benefit of that is as far as a traffic stop goes.

there is a way to determine if they are fake or not, i beleive that the real ones have a trademark symbol while the ones on ebay do not. a friend of mine has a real one with the symbol, and another friend has a fake one without.

i hear if you are seen with a fake one when pulled over you will almost 100% get a ticket

Hate to revive old threads but I thought some may be interested in this site that sells those stickers:

Just ordered one to check it out. I will post my results if anyone's interested.
