Why???
1. Because of the cost of living.
2. you would be close to 3 Train Stations. West Trenton Train Station to go to Philly and Hamilton Train Station if you wanna take a run to NY.
3. you would be smack in the center of every thing cool in NJ.

Some so/so Cool NJ Places...

As far as what I'm looking to change... I guess just looking for something different for a while as far as surroundings. It'll either be the east of west coast. I just want to explore places for a few years; sounds wierd, but yea, that's me. Not really looking for anything car-related either. I need a break from all that stuff too.(ha-asking on a car forum)

Red Bank is right in the middle of the state (north/south) but close to the Shore. There is a train station right in town (plus Parkway access, NYC ferry acess) that can have you in NYC in an hour and 15 or 30 minutes. Philly is about two hours.

Red Bank is a hip little town. Maybe too hip for its own good. Kevin Smith (aka Silent Bob) has/had his production company office in town for a time and his comic book shop is right downtown. (Next town over is Rumson...home of Springsteen, Connie Cheung/Morry Povich, Bon Jovi, etc.). Lots of little pubs/coffeehouses/clubs in the area.

Monmouth County has 5-6 county run golf courses that are cheap and well cared for. The beaches are nice. Abuntant shopping.

Turbo Trix is about 20-25 minutes north on the Parkway!

Good luck,
CoachG

Unless I am driving to a Evo Meet in NY or Philly, I take the train.
My Evo stays SAFE at home.
If you go to the Philly or NY auto show its cheaper for a round trip train pass then parking your car, thats not even inclueding gas or pease of mind with what lot your car is parked in.

I can give you some input on this considering I live 10 mins from red bank

It's a fun place in small doses...but after that it's just as boring as anywhere else in jersey. however, the fact that is close to the shore is a big plus. keep in mind that being somewhere exciting like hoboken, edgewater, etc (parking your evo here might be hazardous to your health) is a lot different then living down at the shore, where stuff is relatively more quiet than city life.

it's all in what you're looking for...but I'd rather live on the west coast (having an EVO in CA also might be something you want to search on if thats your definition of "west coast")...and yes I used to live out in cali so nobody can say im a central jersey hater

I won't have my Evo when I move out there-this is partial reason I'm moving. I'm pretty much done w/ cars... for now but I'll keep current on the scene. I won't worry about the #s of stolen cars there. I know insurance is high for a reason.

well the thefts yeah, but also the sheer amount of people in the state along with accidents.

I live in the poconos 1/2 time and Passaic County NJ 1/2 time.

The misses and I are planning on buying a house in Sussex County. I like this area. Quick drive to the beach in the summer and a quick drive to where our hearts are in Vermont for skiing all winter

I lived in NYC most of my life and just over 18 months ago moved to NJ because the cost of living in NYC was getting outrageous.

While NJ property taxes are high (which is mostly apportioned to schools), compared to what you can puchase in NYC for an equivalent amount of money there is no contest.....

NJ wins.

FYI I work in NY and my commute is anywhere from 30-45 minutes, which isn't that bad considering I have an actual house to come home to.

If you are serious about buying a home or condo, co-op, or townhouse in NJ, PM me; I know two real estate agents that can help you out.

Good luck.

BTW, if you have a good amount of money to spend consider Colts Neck or Holmdel.

Just stay away from certain parts of Trenton, Jersey City, and Camden.
