New Jersey/NJ Natives, questions...

Just wondering if a few fellow Jersey guys/girls could point me in the right direction of where decent places in central/northern Jersey are to live(bigger cities). I'm just kind of looking for a change of direction in life and figured Jersey was kind of convenient for being a central location for a few bigger cities with oppotunity. Sorry if this is a broad question, any suggestions, (positive) comments, and whatnot would be greatly appreciated. I guess I should add I'm not exactly rich or anything either, so no rich places; again... just looking to change the pace in life.

jersey city and weehawken are some good growing cities also real close to to the city. If money is no object check out hoboken also close to the city but parking tends to be a nightmare.

well central jersey is a ideal location because you have both philly and nyc within reach. nyc is just 45 minutes from me. But if you want to live in a city, and not in a suburb, than northern jersey would better suit you.

Oh yea, stay away from newark/elizabeth/jersey city/irvington

True....central nj is the definition of suburbia....as previously mentioned, weehawken, jersey city, and hoboken are the up-and-coming areas....fun but expensive!

jersey city has a lot of cars stolen. Its a hot area... not sure if thats something you would want to be worried about. Im not sure if that has changed.

newark is slowwwly gettin better. still wouldn't suggest moving there though. bergen county is nice and most of it is within 15 minutes from nyc, but very expensive. clifton is a nice area, and some of it not too expensive, and its like 12 miles from nyc

I guess I could look this up online, but it might be easier to ask... how far is it from north to south jersey? (drive time wise)... I guess central to philly and NYC and DC would be kind of ideal.

guess ill start the hating

stay out of jersey. if you want to live close to a major city, move ot the suburbs of new york or philly or DC. the northeast is great because everything is so close together. you can drive to DC to Boston and its not that bad. trains busses and flgihts are cheap.

no reason to livein jersey unless you have to

not that jersey is so great.........but common.......

DC to boston? thats like 9 hour drive..........no thanks, unless you have a full day to drive..........

The only thing great about jersey is that it is close to the major cities. I live in central jersey and i'm an hour from philly and NYC. I went to school in RI and thats about 4.5 hours. I'm also 3 hours from DC.

one thing about jersey though........it's fu_king expensive. prepare to get bent over with income and property taxes, not to mention car insurance.

What exactly do you do for a living? what are you looking to change?

Hahaha,
You're looking to get in to Jersey and I'm looking to get out.
Hamilton, Larance, or Ewing Townships are your best bet.
Why???
1. Because of the cost of living.
2. you would be close to 3 Train Stations. West Trenton Train Station to go to Philly and Hamilton Train Station if you wanna take a run to NY.
3. you would be smack in the center of every thing cool in NJ.

Some so/so Cool NJ Places...
