Agreed, machine shop is definitely the way to go. The performance shop is just doing what you could do yourself with a drill...(which is a crappy job!) It was $90 to get two broken bolts/studs out of the hotside of the Evo turbo. For the price of a used 16g, you are way over paying. You could even get a brand new Evo III 16g for like $500...
Apparently this is a 16G turbo with 20G internals? Anyone confirm this is possible, I'm new to the whole turbo scene so I'm learning, slowly but I am...

it isn't that it is hard more that it is hard to get to. Then again i am literally twice the size of you. Just remember, a little goes a LONG way when it comes to adjusting the clutch. It is annoying that you cant figure out how much you adjusted it until you drive it but i still recommend doing it in small 1 turn increments.
morning all!
The gvr4's 16G has a couple studs snapped on the bolts.. My buddy dropped it off at boston dyno to have them remove the studs, I'm starting to think the guy doesn't know what he's doing cause he had to go out and "buy a set of bits for it" since he snapped his regular set... thus he's charging me 80 extra for it!?

Well he's only charging me 80$ for the work apparently. Hopefully if he doesn't get them out I don't have to pay anything cause he failed... I have a full machine shop at work that can probably get it out, but the problem is I need the turbo, lol.

Personally, i think you may have bit off more than you can chew with this car, you should have bought something reliable and pre-assembled.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.

Like they say on the commercials, go big or go home! lol I kid...
haha yea I know this is complicated for me, but I know I can pull it off. The easiest way for me to learn is to watch how something is put together, ask questions. With an already built car I'm SOL with that unless I start taking it apart. I'd rather learn how something is assembled beforehand. At least this way the car isn't running before, and if it isn't running after I haven't lost anything, just need to troubleshoot. Whereas if I had something running before, start to poke around and it stops running then I loose a running car. I have a car for now thankfully. I also have the help of two friends who know these cars really well so I can always ask questions.

sorry>
I has a real hate this morning. Wished the entire northeastern states followed the same law Canada enforces in most provinces with mandatory snowtires on all road going vehicles!! F**K you and your shatbox front wheel drive with bald tires. I hope you crash and not live to see the mess you caused because of your poor decisions.

I learned a huge amount from that and would do it again if I was in the same situation. That being said, if your VR4 is too much for you, you could sell it and buy mine off me (which is all together and runs!).
