Dex, are you using Mobil 1? It may have thinned out after being used that long. I would consider switching away from mobil 1 if you havent done so already.

yeah it was definitely mobil 1 10w30 at ~6k miles. never had issues before like this... but possibly because my integra's rings were so gone that i never had the same oil in there for too long. i really think it might have been a thinning issue, thats the only thing that i can think of? or maybe the filter was so clogged - that gunk clogged the pressure sensor? i dunno - whatever the issue is i will be changing to a different type of oil, next oil change, - and i will be changing more frequently.

that does surprise me tho. i would think mobil 1 would be good for 6k. i've never let it go that long in the evo or in the celica but still. im guessing you don't still have the oil? you could send it out to get examined if you really care.

It is WAY too thin. It was getting past my rings on the sentra too. I moved over to the Castrol 0w-30 on the sentra which is actually THICKER cold then mobil 1 and havent had any oil issues since. I use syntec 10w-30 in the evo and havent lost a drop last i checked after 2.5k miles.

Dex it looks like DanJ is having the same problem as you.

I personally hate mobil 1. I know a lot of people love it but i still think it is junk and will never go in my cars again. I would personally rather use dyno oil then mobil 1.

Meet for thursday location?

the evo is really good about oil consumption. if you change it frequently it should be fine, but after this incident i don't recommend running mobil 1 for 6K. i will be changing more frequently.

i forgot to add - the pressure sensor is really finicky on many of the 05's and 06's. just do a search on oil light, and a bunch of them come up. thats why i changed my oil right away - because that fixed it for some.

Don't believe everything people say about running full synthetics over 5K. No matter what engine is in your vehicle, full synthetics will not perform as they should as your breach 3K+. Even my Mobil1 rep says that the mileage numbers specified are bench tested figures. Even those are questionable. I change my oil every 2500 miles of 60 days, which ever 1st (I don't pay for oil ). I've done 6 oil changes this past year ('07) and I have only put on 2,1xx miles on my car. I notice a difference when I change it, even with how little miles were put on this past year. Are there better oils out there...sure...but Mobil 1 has treated me very well in the past. I will stay a believer, until I switch our synthetic inventory to AMSOIL. But we are under contract through Volvo to carry Mobil 1, so I don;t see it happening anytime soon.
