Well add me to the Statie's love evos list.
I was getting to the toll on the mass pike coming from CT and what do ya know... nice pretty blue and red lights behind me.
"officer I just moved here and dont know the laws..."
"no problem, just get the car registered and change that muffler... have a good night..."

looking to set up a St. race for a certain someone with a Black Evo.You don't happen to know anything about that do you Paul? Check out that "other" local site....
I dont know anything about St races.
I will have to check out that site
I am sure the car is fine. Usually if a clutch is slipping like that, it doesn;t just stop or go away. Problem persists and will get worse. Like I said, this wan't a dis. Black ice can be a killer. I'll tell you something scary...trying to find a vibration that increased with engine rpm. To find out after a week of chasing down the issue that it was a failed t-belt tensioner and caused the belt to jump 2 teeth on the exh cam pulley
. That was scary. It was almost a new motor for me when that happened!!

it definitely wasnt my clutch cuz i wasnt engaging the clutch when it happened nor do i evar beat on my clutch. the only time my clutch has ever slipped was once or twice when the restrictor pill caught and i gunned it (dextor was with me one of these times).
i am sure my car is fine but i'm still not totally buying the black ice thing. it could have been black ice, but i guess i just dont feel like the tires were spinning at the time but i could be wrong. the whole thing happened so quickly and i was mad tired at the time. plus for the gear i was in the tires would have had to go from ~60 mph to almost 100 mph and i shoudl have noticed that!
teh evo will in all likelihood never get sold and she will most likely not be a virgin for more than 2 more years.

I'm not totally disputing the ice theory, just saying it's awd. If one wheel was slipping, I don't think the revs would rocket up like that..(maybe I'm wrong?). I think if I were travelling at 50 mph or their by close to that in 3rd to 4th gear, and I hit ice, I think it would be more noticeable than just revs jumping...?I don't think it is the clutch either..maybe just some other weird one time thing, most likely...Evo just didn't like driving that night..lol
Well if the speedo didn't shoot up then the clutch slipped. If the speedo did shoot up it was ice. It is a mechanical system so its not like something magical happened. OR maybe it did....
