NJ inspection

Hey guys,

Long story short, I have my DSM that I brought out here with me when I moved from SoCal and I have to get it inspected here in NJ. Since its a cali car, I have tint (a big NJ no no apparently) and don't feel like going to some place to get it inspected and being failed cuz of lame tint. So if anyone can be of any help in this matter , let me know.

I am in Southern Jersey by the way, AC area.

Thanks,
Scott

Your going to get mucho tickets for the tint anyway, might as well get it off.

In a few places they'll actually make you go to court to prove the tint was removed.

i'm gonna have to agree, it is not worth the headaches it will cause you.

I drove around with the tint on the car for the first year when I moved out here and didnt get pulled over.. Im not worried about getting a ticket for tint, if it happens so be it. Just like I dont drive with a front plate either and dont get hassled, probably because im not a kid :-)

Anyways, the tint is just some of the things.. there are other mods involved on the car (VPC, bigger injectors, etc) and I just want to make sure it passes ok, if you get my drift.

you might wanna try some of the smaller mom and pop style shops in A.C. its kind of ghetto, but thats were you'll be most likely to find someone whos a little flexable. sorry i couldn't be of more help. i'm gonna be dealing with the same issue in 2010. but i think i'm keeping my stock stuff for that reason.

And then again maybe he doesn't: Heres whats on line--unless it changed as of 2000 when the law hit the books..

New Jersey Tint Law Enacted: 2000
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN NEW JERSEY?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In New Jersey, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield.
Front Side Windows No tint can be applied legally to this window.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

You will have to take it off in front of the police officer. Imagine doing it while he watches you do it. It will look horrible w/o tools. Two my friends had this happen to them in Voorhees,NJ.

My other friends find shops to get stickers from. They have to roll their windows when they see police. In rain, snow, or shine.

They also roll their windows down when they see police even in rain, snow, or shine.

I cant see a cop making someone pull their tint off right there unless its some punk kid driving the car. I find it hard to imagine a cop telling some adult in their 30's-40's to pull their tint off on the side of the road.
