back to fluids. i plan to get my tranny, tc and diff oil changed soon. should i just go to JNZ or somewhere? i don't know if i want to take that on myself. i foresee a huge freaking mess in my garage. who on here changes those fluids themselves? and is it as hard as i think it looks?
Dan its real easy. Just get the little pumps from amsoil. I can give you a hand if you want

its simple, if you can change your own oil you can change your driveline fluids.

OK so, AMSOIL 75W-90 GL4 (3 qts) for the trans, what do I want for the TC and how much? I think I'm just going to do all AMSOIL.

yea its isnt that hard just dont over tighten your tranny blot and every other bolt or you will cry your eyes out. back with the fluids i us MT-90 RedLine and diaqueen for tranny&diff fluids. i only went that rout because it was cheaper for me.

(2) quarts of severe gear 75w-90. That will do TC and rear diff. Make sure you get the $11 pump

Pete, severe gear is an Amsoil fluid. An independent test showed they beat out most fluids available, but the OEM Diaqueen wasn't part of the test so no comparison there. OEM is a great fluid so its fine if you stick with it. As far as shifting, you should think about gettign a weighted shift knob, they make a huge difference, and I swear by them. I'm currently running a Aspec knob, but am switching to an even heavy custom knob.

TC takes alittle under 1 quart, and rear diff takes .5 quart.

OK so for the TC it's AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-90, correct? 1qt?

The rear diff I'll leave alone, it only has 7k on it's fluid.

Weighted shift knobs are metal correct? No thanks if thats the case, that ish gets hot esp in the summer.

Jeff, I'm not doing any of this myself I'll be sending this job to Evo8dad. Thanks for the heads up though.

Dan, if your looking for a shop to do that work for you, go to CBRD. It's probably closer for you then JNZ although I could be wrong. All you got to do is hop on 30 westbound and go straight.

thanks for all the advice. i change my oil and rotate my tires myself. that's about it. i still want to bleed brakes and swap driveline fluids. i get a little concerned with taking on new things with my car that i haven't done yet because i will feel like an idiot if/when i break something.

jeff i will hit you up about this when i get stuff sorted.

thanks.

For you Philly guys...

Is anyone going to the Philly Bike Race on Sunday? The route goes through portions of Philly and Manayunk. Check out the route here...

http://www.procyclingtour.com/assets...%20_2009_f.pdf

I will be partying in Manayunk on "The Wall" which is at the top left of the map. You can see a red arrrow pointing to where the wall is, and I will be about at the tip of the red arrow.

If you've never been to this or seen it before, it is basically a big block party with tons of people out on the streets walking around and drinking. Good times...

Let me know if any of you guys will be in the area on Sunday....

Dan, fluid changes are pretty easy. Just make sure you break lose the fill bolt before you take off the drain bolt for the TC, tranny, & diff. I doubt you'll have any issue since your car is newer, but just incase. It would suck to drain out all the fluid and then not be able to get new fluid in.

Pete, the really heavy knobs are typically 304 steel, since it provides the most mass. There are some that make weighted Delrin ones, which are co-polymer, and wont get hot or cold. WC Lathewerks makes a Delrin one that weight 115 grams.
