i was huge and still am a bit into anjunabeats (above and beyond) for uplifting but became chummy with markus schulz and his wife when i lived in miami. his first big tune was the remix of telepopmusik's breathe.....much more anthemy remix before he started push the hybrid progressive **** that armin got into about 5-6 years ago. lately i've been into melodic drum and bass.....maybe it is all the living in the northeast (i dont know). some melodic/uplifting house is ok....probably because all trance today is a hybrid of house and trance (more beat driven with more melody).
i listen to all kinds of stuff now and have seen every dj out there. i've been to ibiza several times when living in spain too. glow nightclub in DC is about the only half decent club to hit up around here in the summertime.
btw i never followed DJ AM and never checked him out until he died. he spun hardstyle? hello? welcome to 1997!!! hard swiss trance was cooler long before NYC DJ's F'd it up for the world....they're always like 10 years behind in styles.
i am married to a woman to clarify and there is nothing wrong with electronica....some is as hard as metalcore (i like August Burns Red of all bands)

Going to see tiesto on the 24th.
Im so bored right now that im actually trying to grab a copy of logic online hahaha
Can't say I am a big fan of trance or techno, and not many know this about me, but I have an extensive drum and bass collection in VINYL Originally Posted by BluesunsXIV

I have a metric **** ton of vinyl actually with a decent amount of dubplates. I mostly did mixing as a hobby but I made it pretty far in the local dmc championships when they were around back in late 90's and 2000. I still have my equipment as well, technics 1210 tables, 1200 series championship mixer signed by dj craze, 1200 series headphones, orpahon needles with night club stylus and the list goes on..Collecting plenty of dust in the ol basement lolWhenever people get in my car they are like WTF is that music !! lol Right now I enjoy ragga jungle and dubstep , and people think I am crazy! All I know is that I prefer technically complex and perfectly made music, can't really describe it any other way

It is also the most challenging type of music to mix!
Anyone remember DJ Roc Raider? fyi he lives in southwest philly and I have chilled with him a few times at his house messing around on the turntables..Good times!
I aspire to have skills like this guy here!!

I always wanted to go to the Love Parade in Berlin, I always have the chance but if it is between that and going to some place warm and sunny like the Greek Isles I don't go. I read somewhere that the animals at the Zoo get diarrhea for a week after the Love Parade because of the loud music poor little guys.
Blues, I went out to see Oakie in June. Would love to be able to see DeadMau5 in Philly on 22 of November but I will be out of town for the holidays. I basically listen to anything by anyone but a lot of DJs have free sets on iTunes which I subscribe to a few there. I pick up live sets like the 2009 Miami Winter Music Conference from sites like mercuryserver dot com.
Sitting here tonight I wish I could just have a drink somewhere cool and hear some tunes spinning, even if it was just some classics like from Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance Episode 200. At least I have the drinking part going.
Yes LP = Linkin Park
i learned about 95% of the dutch language from the original ASOT episodes. before it went over to gay XM radio although i listen to the podcasts still. i will post more stuff about the old scene and markus and heather schulz tomorrow.Originally Posted by robertg
Dek0026 that is cool you know Marcus Shulz. Sounds like you have a huge history with the scene. Very cool. I never got out to Ibiza or any big clubs but I go to Europe every year since I got married and trance/tech/electronic music is still big out there.I always wanted to go to the Love Parade in Berlin, I always have the chance but if it is between that and going to some place warm and sunny like the Greek Isles I don't go. Maybe hardcore is not the right music category, I don't pretend to know what that would be. Just comparing it to trance/techno/house etc. I guess I like the bit of electronic influences that LP uses and the 'hard rock' style.Originally Posted by ek9evolve

BTW, what music do you like ek9evolve?
So some of us share musical tastes in common, how about TV programs. I'm sure everyone here is familiar with Top Gear? Probably the best TV program series in the world.

btw after thinking about it i think i will keep a lot of the stories about well known people off the public forum. i can tell them in person. god knows they google themselves all the time and they'll figure out it is me in some cases.
i do remember many years ago, heather schulz saying she hopes to be able to afford a new minivan for the kids. that was when markus just started his coldharbour stuff and global dj broadcast on a local miami station. i think he's come a long way and can afford any minivan.
btw we used to pick armin and tiesto and others up at the airport and take them out to dinner a few times in miami.

i guess you could say the electronic music scene was my scene long before the car scene ever was.......it's just that i can afford the cars i want now.

I already have a few guys from the Reading area planning on coming, so I think I'm just going to keep it.
