I was @ King street meeting up with a couple of friends (rx8, and rs4). saw an evo X come by, and was like, oh sweet, finally, an evo X owner - see what how it compares to the evo 8. Next thing you know, he tries (very unsuccessfully) to drift his evo X around us in the parking lot.

Then, rather than stop to chat like a normal human being, he starts yelling obscenities at us out the window, and takes off.

dude, seriously, that BOV dump is your spool going right out the window - you're not running the kind of hp figures to warrant that.

plus your evo is not a 2fast2furious RWD conversion - put your money where your mouth is. we will meet you any time, any rally. http://www.flr-scca.com/rally/2008/index.html

Tell him I have X parts for sale!! haha!

So I finally got tuned... I went to the shop and they did a nice job.. I do have a lil boost leak at throttle body shaft.. They pulled 340 awhp at one point, but i wanted it safe and settled with 326... next year more power will come, but for now i just need to stay away from mods and save some money for school...

wow thats some high numbers for stock injectors , stock fuel rail , stock i/c , stock piping , stock mani with stock o2 housing and no cams. What kinda dyno do they use at the shop?

What was ur injector duty cycle % and was ur afr like?

Congrats tho on your numbers

They use a Dyno Dynamics Dyno. There is usually a correction factor of 1.1-1.15 added to all runs on their dyno. So uncorrected and "real whp" for his vehicle should be about 285 whp (drive home) and 295 whp (best). Those numbers are still very impressive on a Evo 8 with limited mods and couple that with the cool weather, they are very believable. Right now, he would probably be in the 320-340 whp range on the VR dynojet.

Just for reference, my Evo 9 with the stock catback/stock airbox did 289 whp on the Shops dyno dynamics, 261 whp on DSG's dyno dynamics, and 300 whp at Victor Research. Respective temps were 62 deg, 80 deg, 65 deg. The Shops dyno has always been a very generous unit but can usually be brought back inline with other DD dynos by reducing your final take home number by 15%. The DynoJet at ICS matches the unit at VR very closely.

Come on now.. I like that high number. LOL..
I just wanted to get tuned, wasn't really worried about the number.. next year will be a different story....
I have a boost leak, and my boost goes from 22 to 20 depending on the rpms...
but at one point he pulled 340, and that really surprised me, I have no idea how...
Next time it will be Ivey..

I don't know about 320 to 340. I mean we had an al tuned evo 8 come in with super lean and very over aggressive timing maps pushing like 312whp max. 20 psi to 19 psi. Hks intake , gsc s1 cams and perrion turbo back with test pipe. fuel pump. After cleaning up his tune bring it to 11.7 afr tappering to 11.3 to redline and pulling timing to stop the kid from knocking we got 298whp out of it. I dunno i got tuned at swift when i first got my evo and the got a DD too and they did a great job. but it seems the dd are to easy to mess with all this correction. I would def love to see this guy come down to our shop and put it on our dyno and see what she does. we are having alittle dyno day saturday if peeps are intrested .

Lots of people blame tuners for bad tunes when a customer comes by and something isn't quite right. Who's to say the dude didn't have a leak somewhere when getting tuned or a faulty sensor that he changed out after getting tuned. All these things play a roll. It's a known fact that Al uses a sh&t load of fuel and timing in his tunes @ very conservative boost levels. Most of the cars that he tunes usually leave the facility running richer than what you were last shown on the dyno for safety reasons. So whenever I hear these stories, I question the actions of the owner after the tune.
