I'm still out driving the Evo around. I haven't seen any flakes yet!!! My karting invite is still open to anyone who wants to run. I'm at the track in Wallingford every Friday between 5 and 7.

I took the car out for a few highway pulls Saturday night...first time in two weeks. Holy crap does the cold air screw with boost. I was boosting way over 30psi even after I turned my controller down a few clicks. (I expected the cold to screw with the psi) By the time I was done turning it down it was almost off....which is like running off of waste gate pressure..around 28psi.
I did miss driving the car though so hopefully the snow will hold off for a few more weeks!

lol i know exactly what you mean...i took my car out last week and did a few highway pulls myself. Normally i spike 29-30 psi, with the cold it was spiking 32. Car felt awesome in the cold and my new tires were just spinning when i pinned it in second gear.

It's never too cold to cart. This is indoors by the way. Generally the air on the track is 5 deg warmer than outside. The cars run better/faster with colder air. We don't race for 1st place here, we race for best times. It keeps everything safe. Again, I'm usually there on Fridays after 4 but leave before 7. I'll probably be there this coming Tuesday during the same time.

Well, I really didn't want to stand around in 20 degree weather lol and then going fast in a open cart. I would think you'd freeze? But indoors sounds pretty kick ***. Hows the helmet/clothing work out? Cost? how many runs?

Definitely thinking about going again now that I don't have to worry about the cold lol. I think I can get 2 buddies of mine to come along too.

Still trying to find a place that’s experienced, close, convenient, and affordable (in that order) for sanding and re-clearing my rear wing. Since the car is garaged, it's not nearly as bad off as other wings I've seen on EvoM.

So, I’ve talked to two dealerships and one wouldn’t touch the wing except to paint it all TB, the other said they’d “give it a try”. Someone recommended a body shop in Stamford, but they couldn’t give me any estimate without seeing the wing (understandable), plus they’re an hour-and-a-half away and not open on Saturday for drop off (Although one of the guys said he’d come out Saturday to the shop). I took it to another body shop in East Windsor, and they were very reluctant to touch the wing, and finally gave me a price of $700, after I left it for a few days, to sand and re-clear. UCC in Peekskill (who used to do this) just doesn’t answer PM or e-mails. I have heard of a dealership in NH that does the wing repair (too far), and got an offer from a member in FL if I’ll mail it down (not too interested in that route).

So, any of you CT folks know of a good body shop in central-CT that will sand and re-clear the wing for a reasonable price? Better yet if they’ve actually done this for you or a friend.

I really want this done right, or I’d do it myself or take it to any body shop willing to give it a try.

Anyone?

He was telling me about a place that does excellent work on reclearing the wing. If I remember correctly it is in Vernon or Tolland off 84. I can't remember what the name was.
You could always go wingless...

^ Thanks! I'll shoot him a PM.

I am currently wingless, and I am getting used to it. It looked a little funny at first since I've had the car for 5 years. It really does improve visibility out the back without the wing.

The lobby, lounge, briefing room, and every other part of the facility is heated. The only area that is not is the track. They vent outside air in but you will still leave smelling like exhaust fumes. Dress warm and you don't have anything to worry about. You can bring your own dot helmet if you want but they provide that stuff as well as a head-sock and T-shirt when registering. Pants/sweats, and closed toed shows are mandatory. They also provide race suits if you choose to wear one, most people don't use them though. You don't have to wear gloves but I do. The cost is reasonable. $38 for annual membership, then $20 per race for members. Membership also includes one race and a free race during your birthday month. Prices get cheaper when you purchase more races. So I usually purchase 10 races at a time and it works out to $150. They also have 6 month and 12 month VIP memberships that are $1500 and $2500 respectively. I'm not that baller yet though. The site is www.ontrackkarting.com .

Is 1 race just 1 lap? I have my own helmet I use for autox so I'd probably use that.
