I feel your pain brother... happened to my EVO twice. Heading to Jersey Chity for work in the early AM just driving along in the middle lane sipping my coffee and WHAM!!! tire re-tread takes out my lip, bumper and in the process rips my oil filter off so the dummy light goes off and I'm like WTF!! all fixed under insurance but I still had to pay my deductable.

about a year later same direction on the NJTP, this time heading to MA for work same damn thing happens except it doesn't take out my oil filter, just bends my oil cooler. Again insurance to the rescue.

Luckly I don't travel in my EVO a fraction of what I used to but still, you gotta love the NJTP!!

this is exactly why capped tires need to be illegal. theyre a 100% waste of money and anyone who has half a clue of what they are doing running their business will realize how much of a hazzard they cause and it only prolongs what your going to need to do anyways, buying new damn tires. just do it right the first time and get new rubbers. just my $.02. im done now. ha

Happened to me the 1st week I owned my Evo. Ran it over in the 3rd lane on 495 at about 75 MPH. It broke pieces of my undertray and my Zero Lift Kit lip was hanging on the floor. Luckily no damage other than paint damage to the front bumper but I had that repainted about 2 months ago but it still set me back a few hundred that I shouldnt have had to spend.

sorry to hear that man. NJ definitely sucks, I've seen all kinds of road debris that should never be on the road.
