Well, my car has a small but visible intercooler, gauge pod w/ 2 gauges in it and a blue painted interior. Aside from wheels, exhaust and a very subtle RMR Type II lip the exterior is stock. Ride height and everything.

 

Man sorry to hear about that. I sold my 01 ITR to get away from punk kids and theft but I guess I bought the wrong new car then. Well I also live in Northern Jersey in a town next to oradell and hackensack. My 2001 PY ITR was parked OUTSIDE in a PUBLIC LOT without any theft problems except for a jealous ex boyfriend trying to get his/my girl back (long story) for about a year. I feel really lucky about that and feel ever safer with evo. I haven't seen many posts about theft lately. Is theft a problem YET???

My words of wisdom (from experience)
1. Don't bring you car to any malls ESPECIALLY Garden State Plaza
2. Don't bring your car to the city (NYC) unless your parking in a garge that you know isn't crooked
3. Don't brag about mods or start popping the hood to weird people cause you never know who they know or who they are.
4. Do enjoy you car. I mean I've broken some of my own rules with the evo cause I never did any of them with my type R. I bought this car to drive and drive it I will. I didn't even get lo-jack on this car or my type R cause if it gets stolen I don't want it back EVER. If someone wants you car they will have it bottom line. So just enjoy the car and let nature take its coarse (****ing haters, die)

 

Yeah, I know Oradell. Very nice town (I had friends from HS who lived there and I used to hang there and skate there a bit back in the day). I'd be suprised if a car got stolen there, but vandalized is another thing altogether. It's really hard to protect a car against vandalism, but theft is at least doable. Granted, if someone wants your car badly enough they WILL get it, and the advise you gave is a good place to start.

Have you had problems at the GSP? I haven't gone to the mall in ages, but the few times I did go I brought my car.

 

If I didn't have little kids, I'd chain a bull mastiff to my car.

 

3 days after I bought my evo someone egged. Luckily I was still up drinking a :beer and watching a movie and heard the eggs break. When i went outside no-one was there but I decided to wait in the dark to see if they were stupid enough to come back. They were. Two teenage guys came strolling down the street laughing and as soon as they saw me took off. I chased one of 'em all around the neighborhood but I smoke like a chimney so that didn't work too well. It's probl'y for the best tho cause I didn't need to go to jail for assaulting a minor on top of the egging.

 

I live in bergen county, and was the subject of a silly string incedent at the Palisades mall... went to a movie, and when i came out my car was covered in silly string, thankfully i wax my car every 2 weeks and it had plenty of protection from ******* punk kids.
