hey pple question about insurance in NJ!!
I'm 21 with no points. I just switched insurance companies. I was paying 2200 for no points @ 21 years old while driving a 94 pontiac grand am se sedan under my parents insurance. I am now paying 1300 a year and am still under my rents insurance. When I went looking at an evo they told me it was gonna be 4k on my own insurance at least.

Try NJ Cure or Liberty Mutual. I don't our car theft rate is all that high, I think it is more a product of the density of cars per mile of road (highest in the US) and the no. of accidents.
Try to boost your deductible to $1000 or $1500, if you can afford it. (Even potentially $2000 if you will have that amount of cash on tap at any time). They'll try to give you crap about a $1500 deductible, tell them you cleared it with your financing company or something like that.
And opt for pretty low limits, not the minimum but maybe a step or two above.
Another thing to check for: make sure the way you use the car is accurate. If you're not driving it everyday or driving it to work, mark it down as pleasure use only. That makes a bit of a difference as well.
Ask about good student discounts or see about any (worthless) driving education classes you can take.
Also, make sure you opt out of the right to sue. That boosts your premiums too, apparently. But, in all likelihood, you won't get your premium below $2500/year.
