Give me a break There is no reason to sell a car, especially a limited availablity car for no profit. These are businesses not charities. I would never sell an Evo for no profit. I ,just like thousnads of other people have waited 10 years for a car like this and there is no shortage in customers!!
I personally have delt with a very customer oriented Mitsu salesperson, but evomadness, from your replys, you need to attend some sales classes. If the person is unable to afford an EVO, then it is in your best interest to sell them something that is affordable like the Lancer OZ or ES, or possible talk them into an Eclipse. Not say "they are not a potential buyer" and snub them off. Maybe have them wait for the Lancer Rallihart ed. a few months from now. Rule number #1 is establishing a repeat customer base. Don't think you can ride on the name (Mitsubishi) for your sales, it takes a solid, good, first impression for a return visit from a customer. I, for example, bought the EVO and turned right around 6 months later and bought the Montero XLS from the same salesperson. Not because the Montero is rated the best in it's class, or that the price is comparable, or that it rates high in safety, but because of the service I was given 6 months before I even bought the EVO from this dealership (3 in my area). Oh , by the way, my dealership can get any color with any option even though he sold his alotment. Why, because of salespeople like you who can't seem to sell what they have. In fact, he has a couple now for sale for $1500 under MRSP. You talk that you are a large volume dealer, but then you should know you make small profits over many cars vs. 1 large profit on 1.

Then you talk about "no shortage of customers" "thousands". Interesting that out of 250 million potential customers that only thousands are interested. There is a very narrow field of people that would even consider purchasing an EVO and salespeople like you have already pissed half of them off. Then there is the competition, STI, G35, R32, etc. to contend with. This is an evolution forum, we chat and we REMEMBER!

Just my 2c.

Plain and simple, if you don't like your job, can't deal with customers, don't like the pay etc. find a new profession!!! Because that is what salesman have to deal with.

There are slimy salesman and decent salesman. If I come in 6 months before I want to buy and the salesman is pleasant and willing to negotiate when I am ready to buy then I will return to that dealership in 6 months and you will have a sale. Act arrogant and don't let me test drive you lose a sale and I bad mouth the crap out of you to other potential buyers!

James,

I've spoken to you over the phone about purchasing an evo. While you displayed professional on the phone, your attitude here is exactly why I won't buy from you. How can you expect to gain any business from potential evo/mitsubishi buyers if you have an attitude like that? I've been looking for awhile now, and will eventually buy one. It's part of the selling and buying process. The customer will go where the best deals are and where they are treated with respect. You need to treat everyone well if you want them to purchase from you and refer you to someone else. As for the selling price of you evo, you could do better than that. Several dealers all over the country are selling below or near invoice. Trust me, that is not the way to deal with people. I think you may have lost some more potential customers from this valuable forum with this whole topic.

Well, I had a long rant but I decided to leave it be and say all people are different. In how they shop and there is nothing wrong this is America you can do what and how you want. If the dealer is going to treat you second rate go some where else.

end of line.

I understand where your coming from. At the same time you were not buying from me anyway more so because I woudnt have sold you one for the price that you have in mind, not because you don't like my attitude. We were talking about salesman ship and how its all about how you treat people while you sit there and say its all about price!!! I treated you with respect meanwhile I dont hear from you in 6 months. Your the type of customer we have been talking about. No matter how I treated you you wouldnt have bought from me because I am more expensive. Now, some guy in Jersey who happends to pick up the phone the day you decide on buying who just so happends to have the color you want will get the business.....not the guy with the product knowkledge, or the hospitality or the guy you spoke to on the phone just to get information 6 months previously, lets get serious.

If you remember the conversation, I gave you a time frame. I mentioned to you it could be anywhere from a month to SIX months. I also told you that I am purchasing an SUV. I did purchase that FX45 and from a dealership that treated me well. I made no commitment to you other than I would call you when I was ready. We both hung up the phone with you stating "I'll be here, call me when your ready to buy." Based on my conversations with you, I decided to refer you to my other friends. I guess that was a big mistake, because you obviously have two personalities. If you re-read my post, it is not all about price. It is mostly about how you should treat your potential customers. You obviously have issues and probably are not doing to well because you wouldn't be this unhappy. Listen I am serious, you just need to adjust to the real world.

The problem isnt with you not calling me... its with calling other dealers instead of calling me. I believe you didn't all me because you were just interested in price. This thread got way out of hand!!! I am doing great!!! I just like arguing and debating!!! I am sorry I took this so personally. But you live and learn.

1+1=2

Cool dealer+good price=Sale.

That is my secret formula for buying a car. Don't worry, nothing is taken personally here. I just move on. Life is too short to be arguing. Good luck in your new WWEvo.

I paid cash for my Evo. I'm not talking about a certified check or a wire transfer. I went in the dealership with 28,000 in cash and walked out with the keys. It was really pretty simple. It was funny, because the salesman was giving me **** about being able to afford the car and all that (We all know how salesmen are). You should have seen his face when I opened the envelope with all the green..... I drove away 30 minutes later.

A good price and service department is more important than the salesman/sale. I have delt with rookie and pro salespeople, good and bad, who cares. Everyone does their job differently.

$1000 to $4000 isn't chump change.
Neither is warranty work or repairs.
(I do my own maintenance.)

I am glad you voiced your opinion, and I appreciate your honesty. I was just voicing my opinion. I don't think there is reason to trash talk though...... I got everyones point. I think we should all grow up and allow others to say whats on their mind without making them feel like they should go find a job at Burger King!! I make plenty of money where I dont need a second job, but I understand where your coming from.
