NJ surcharge

Ok so i got a ticket a few weeks ago because i forgot to update my license after turning 21, dec 20, and had till dec 31 to update it.

so my ticket was for $54, i paid it on time, and sent in a copy of the new drivers license along with the check and have an electronic copy of them cashing the check.

Now i just get a NJ surcharge notice that i have to pay 100 a year for the next 3 years?

i have never gotten one of these with any of my tickets, is this normal?

thanks in advance

when you first get your license, you start with DMV points from the start. so its easy to rack up points if you arent careful and starting having pay surcharge.. what i dont understand is your case doesnt seem to be a moving violation. what does the ticket say?

Make sure your licnse is not suspnded too now, I got a ticket like you in NJ, paid the ticket, renews my license and got suspended again when it went thru the system again. Check you license again to make sure it's not suspended again. Surcharge is normal

Dec. 20th? Me too haha. Yeah man make sure ur license isn't suspended because when it expires sometimes they make you take the road test all over again if you didn't renew it. NJ is RETARTED like that.

i read that if you send a check for payment and instead of paying say $100.00 you pay $105.00, they will issue you a refund of $5.00 and if you dont cash the $5.00 check your fine or points never go into the system because the paper trail never completed by you not cashing the $5.00 check.
hope this makes sense
