^ I agree 100%
If I could go back and do it all over again I would stay 100% stock sans carbotech pads. I'm talking for autox & HPDE also. Modifiy the driver before you modify the car as they say.

either way i keep thinking about getting rid of my HTA green and getting an HKS turbo- spooling is night and day difference.
I have not changed anything this year except for brakes. I know whats holding me back is driver. Me and pete are about the same mods minus tires and wheels and at CBP he was 58.5 and I ran a 64.0. Driver plays a huge role. Even after 4 events this gear i have improved 100%. Give it some time and get some more events under your belt before you go mod crazy. It will just hide your flaws and wont make you a better driver. Just sayin
i've stopped modding and have no plans for anything soon.
if i could do it over again, i probably wouldn't have messed with suspension just yet. the car handles fine and i's gots me a supa hellaflush setup that lookz hawt.
i like my powerlevel and reliability so far.

I was looking for the Orange Viper in the results page and he isn't listed. So not only was he too good to have an instructor in the car, he was too good to help out and work at the event. Great guy...
Is that why he wasn't on the list? First thing I did was Ctrl F "Viper" when I saw the results. Kinda disappointed because I wanted to see how much I beat him by.
Dude, Pete is 100% right... We all mod our cars prior to knowing how to really use them. Everyone does it and then regrets it after the fact when they know better. I have had 3 suspensions besides my stock MR Bilsteins. I have bought countless wrong items and have wasted major time in doing so let alone $.

It was the best $ I ever spent on my car. There is so much to learn, its easy to develop bad habits. these guys are all excellent Autocrossers, it was a great experience for me years ago.
So in the mean time if you are on stock suspension or something with low spring rates I would recommend an adjustable rear sway bar. If you have coilovers already with high rates the stock sway bars are my preference.
That is the only change you need to make, NOTHING else! Have myself or preferably Simmonz drive your car. You will then see your platform is plenty good. down the road you can get some Hoosiers and then you start changing things per how your car reacts.
I rode with you and to be totally honest, you are like not even close to pushing your car yet. there is plenty of room to grow, it will start to make sense with a little practice.
The way you talk where everything comes easy is similar to how I thought when I first started. I had a 2000 corvette, it was Corvette day at Englishtown they had a drag and an Autox event. I could not finish 1 run on the autox, it totally humbled me. At that point I was hooked and knew that I had to figure this Autox out. It is now 10+ years later and I am still figuring it out.
Autox is like golf, it takes time and practice. You do not just sit in a car and lay the smack down, some of these guys are really serious and put time and $ into this sport.
As far as knowing you are "getting better" is easy. You need to look at your times versus the other people in class. More important than that is are your times improving after each run, are you getting faster each run. If your first run is your fastest you are not using good technique, not learning the course as you drive it. Are you practicing technique - looking ahead, braking early, getting on gas early, using enough throttle or too much. Eventually you will recognize doing that right or wrong.Knowing how to walk the course and identify key elements. All our things that need to be learned and practiced. Some things will come easy and some won't. It would not be any fun if it was easy, at least for me, thats why I keep doing this ish..

Besides that he was cocky... My conversation with him:
hi, how are you doing? Viper guy= good, then he asked me about his grid spot. After that I asked if he ever Autox, he said no but he is a professional drifter.
That he likes his 370Z better for drifting than the Viper. I said well you need to know a couple things, drifting your car in Autox does not work, in fact its slow. You should get an instructor to ride with, it will make it more fun. They of course told me no they were good and gave me a look like buzz off we don't need your advice. They then proceeded to SUCK the rest of their day, I am not sure they even finished the course.
Drifters are Retarted, drifting is retarted....that is all
full disclosure I liked the original F & F, thought drifting was cool looking for like a minute. I have the real old drifting videos from Japan pre-F&F on my computer. After time I realized it was lame, not for me and actually slow. I still do not understand how you win a drifting race....
