hellz no. it will be driven to and from the track, you know how I roll.
thanks. I'm in the learning stages with these cars but I've read the same info about the motors lasting a very long time. It seems BMW over engineered the **** out of it. If/when it does go I plan to put Dan's e36 motor in here and he is going to do a V8 swap.
hopefully thats not for quiet a few years though.
I'm really excited to get this thing on the track!!

he daily drive an e30 and x5 and knows bmw, so it wasn't a maintenance issue. the car was just old and things didn't hold up.
P.S. Your gonna be bored with the power after 3 events.

Pics or it didn't happen!
congrats on the new car. Auto x and dd the evo in stockish trim and track the bmw, problem solved
we used to have a guy that run track with us in a Spec E30, i think 250k on the chassi. he spent more time working on it at the track than driving it. he ended up with enough spare parts to build two more cars. he got sick of it and tried to sell it, then found out there were too much rust, so he's going to crush it.

I don't plan on putting sticky tires on or adding power or anything like that. those things will just increase the chance of stuff breaking at the track. did your buddy have any of that stuff done? I just want to drive it safely at 10/10ths - bone stock (sans seat and cage) for a year or two.
Its going to happen in stages though. First I'll do the maint and get the car inspected so I can DD it a little. Once I'm comfortable that its going to be reliable I'll do an autox or two to shake the bugs out. if everything goes well the next step will be a DE and if that goes well the seats and cage will go in.

thanks mang.
Petey called me last night to attend the wake for the Sandbox, but I could not make it. We don't know the extent of the damage just yet. I was told Ben went out for his second run, and the motor shut off. The immediate assumption is that the belt skipped, but we'll find out as soon as Ben gets the head off. Doesn't seem like there are any visible damage from outside. It is sad, but the motor has definitely served well, holding 500hp in stock form for over 2 years.
