its an 89 with 208k

Drove it home from Saylorsburg last night. its a very fun car with power everything, even sunroof. Plan is to do the usual preventative maint. (all fluids, water pump, timing belt, brakes, ect) throw a set of cheap street tires on start HPDE'ing it!

First mods after it make it thru an entire DE will be seats and a cage. its a shame to tear into the car, since it really is in excellent condition for its age, but I bought it for one reason alone and that was to track.

Sweet. My brother says he see soem come through his shop that has over 300k on the odo. He says the cam shaft wears out at that mileage, but the motor runs perfect. Congrats on an well-thought purchase

Do you mean a 325is? First thing I would do is to swap the damn steering rack to an e36 steering rack, e30 ratio blows.

Also, might want to check those control arm bushings, e36 bushings are the same, except they're solid. e30 m3 bushings also work (they also give more camber as they're offset compared to regular ones. I have a website that you can put the VIN number in and it'll pull up all the part numbers for that car

The white one I have at home only have slightly over 120k. The chasis is not in as good of a condition, but the motor runs perfectly. I've done the timing and regular maintenance also. Would love to turn it into a track car, but there is a crack on the driver's side strut tower. Oh well...I got it for free.

thanks. I'm in the learning stages with these cars but I've read the same info about the motors lasting a very long time. It seems BMW over engineered the **** out of it. If/when it does go I plan to put Dan's e36 motor in here and he is going to do a V8 swap. hopefully thats not for quiet a few years though.

I'm really excited to get this thing on the track!!

I'm more interested to hear what's going to happen to the Evo. Part-out? Willing to take monthly payments on the Ohlins?

Chau you're correct, its a 325is not a 328is. The steering rack seems fine, as long as its not leaking I'll leave it in. not trying to do anything to make the car faster, just reliable so it doesn't cost me track time. The bushings are all old but still there. everything on the car is ORIGINAL even the clutch. I'm the 3rd owner and the two before me were both doctors who did nothing but regular scheduled maint. I even have all the service records. Its very rare to find a car this old with nothing modified on it. that was a huge selling point for me.

I don't know what to do with the EVO. I love the car more than any other car I've owned but I also can't justify have two track cars...

this e30 wasn't even the one I was talking about originally, that car was an e36 M3 and it still might come to fruition. I'll find out today what the deal is with that...

not really. these cars are dirt cheap. my new enkie RPF1's cost more than the E30 and the e36 will get flipped quickly if I have the chance to buy it.
