i'll give someone else a change to answer. but at FATT instructor clinic, instructors are taught to grab the steering wheel if necessary and we even train on it at the track. the lead instructor would go off track and we have to grab the steering wheel and drive the car. most other clubs dont encourage that though.
Try to pull the car back on track instead of staying where it was and coming to a controlled stop. The difference in traction threw the car to the other side. I haven't watched the video btw!
He corrected and let off the throttle which started the spin is my guess.
That's a very good place to go off (towards driver's right) at lightning. Meaning it has tons of room. There isn't grass on the outside of the turn for many reasons.

IMO, the guy just didn't unwind the wheel after the apex. if he would have taken the steering out of the car, even if he was headed off track, at least it would have stayed straight and he could have just rode it out.
that corner has wrecked a lot of cars. I personally know of 2 who totalled their cars there.

Fan boi!
No, I can't go. May end up working.
Champ Car was my ish in the mid and late 90's. Those things used to be so bad@ss, amazing how dated they look now. After the league split is when I starting watching F1. That was the worse thing to ever happen to open wheel racing in the USA, and sent racing fans to NASCAR in flocks.
