Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards

Yes a boost controller can have a physical limit depending on design but we've used regulators (a boost controller for all intents and purposes but for pneumatics) that can regulate air to over 500 PSI. I'd love to see the carnage after 5-10 seconds at 500 PSI in a motor.
been out of contact for a while. I'm not even going to try and get caught up on the multipal pages I've missed. just dropping in to let ya'll know that baby boy Lincoln Cantor was born this morning @ 11:17am, tipping the scales @ 8.5lbs and measuring 21". Mom and baby are doing fine... daddy is tired from being up since sometime around 6am monday
still planning to make the holbert this weekend, atleast one day if I can.

nah not a nerd. you're use a lot of words that's all.
pete seems to keep it to 3 words or less.
i am very abbreviated in my response to things at work which is why the majority of the medical field hates me. i figure if you don't know it then look it up...no use in me standing here to teach you the basics to understand the situation.

You guys know my car, so I'd like to hear some opinions. A friend of mine said someone was interested, and if the offer is right, I may just sell it!

This is old news since Dan's car was the first one to do this, but at least AMS caught up. Seriously, they should just call it the "Danimal Package".

Congratulations Marc!
We're finally to the point where our second son is only getting up 1-2 times a night. Usually an hour before my alarm goes off to wake me for work or lifting.
Noooooooooooooo! Would you buy another one? I came so close repeatedly to selling mine but at this point I think I might cry if I lost it. It means as much to me if not more than my sons. Probably more.
Congratulations Marc!

Any turbo can run that high. It's how long it will run that way and how hot the charge air is as it leaves the compressor housing that really matters. There isn't a magic boost number that translates to power, it's all in the efficiency of the turbo. You can make more power at 20 PSI on a more efficient turbo than 40 PSI on a little one. The IX turbo is great but I can almost guarantee he won't make it more than 5-10K miles before it grenades. As boost increases so does the RPM the turbo is spinning, and the faster it spins the quicker the bearing surfaces wear due to lack of adequate lubrication and the various loads the shaft sees at upwards of 100000+ RPM. Simply put the oiling system can't keep up and the turbo was never designed to spin that quickly. A smaller mass wheel has to spin at a higher rate to reach that output. Advances in blade design have helped but there's only so much you can do before it becomes a rotational issue as opposed to blade design. It's compressor wheel and housing at a certain point stop being efficient and start blowing hot air. When the charge air is hot as it enters the engine it's causing pre-detonation and not making power Ie: knock. The pump gas limit is more detonation and engine based. Engine limitations aside, higher boost leads to higher cylinder pressure and if it gets too high, certain fuels can't properly combust without help of some sort and you also get pre-detonation then as well. Hope that makes sense I have a tendency to ramble on.
Depending on the mileage I wouldn't say $20K-$21K isn't unreasonable. John paid $13K for his green one and it was beat to hell and back and is close to I think 113000 miles. The motor is in perfect shape though. I paid $25K in early 05 for mine and the average for an 03 with my mileage is still around $20K.
I have exactly 110k on the odo. All maintenance are up to date. Mods are typical Evo mods, nothing extraordinary, with the addition of the Exedy Twin, Ohlins, MR BBS, all the suspension braces I've installed. and some audio stuff.
If your content with the VIII, don't do it unless he is seriosly overpaying you. If your looking for an excuse to get into a X, sell it!!!

As the car sits anything over $16k would a great price for you. If you took the car back to or closer to stock you would hope to get $13-15k plus whatever you can get out of your ohlins, wheels, etc.

That would seal the deal for me on getting an X.
