With toe, you're affectively dragging the rubber across the tarmac, inducing increase ware...as oppose to the ruber rolling. Handling better? yes. Increased Ware? Yes

OK, so is this something I can change on track day or should I do it in advance? I have firestone lifetime alignment on it, so I can probably get it to atleast factory spec for free. How much beyond it they'll go is another matter.

So I guess a good way of looking at it would be that Camber affects what portion of the tire experiences wear and Toe determines how badly the wear actually happens.

No, you need to change it on the alignment rack. I would recommend some camber to make use of your wide contact patch, and zero out the toe. Problem is zeroing out tow can be a real pain, since a small change in camber will affect tow. So have the mechanic get it to as little as he can, while maintaining balace on both sides. -2 front and -1 to -1.2 in the rear is a good starting point imo.

I would have them add as much camber to the front as you can. do about half the amount of camber in the rear as the front. I don't know if caster is adjustable on the X (doubt it) but if so add as much as you can so it will increase your dynamic camber. have them do ZERO total toe, or if you feel your X understeers a little you can toe out the rear 1/32" total (1/64" on each side).

Roll center kit and raise my rear on friday. Then once my camber bolts come in, I'll get my alignment done. Who recommends what? Chu swears by rt tuning.

Sri, I would leave it where it is for now. This is your first time and your runs will reflect that no matter what your set-up is. Just like Dan being on stock sized all-seasons didn't have any effect on what happened to him on his first time out... Gotta walk before you run.

Marc, I dont know what your experience is, as I dont have any with alignment settings for street tire vs. slicks, but my research and conversations with a few people says anything over -3 degrees for street tires is useless as they cannot handle it. In other words, you're stepping into slick territory with that amount of camber...we must have had this conversation before! Also, I dont think the stock setup will alow that type of camber settigns anyway!

It really doesn't matter what your specs are first time out. You won't be able to out drive any set up as a first timer.

Tires didn't have as much to do with my performance as my inability to follow the correct course yet alone line. My driving did improve a lot through the day. I think with beginners that is because as you do more runs and get more input you figure out how hard to drive it in certain sections.

I hope you get a simpler course than what I had for my first time. I probably could have done just fine on the Sunday holbert course but I had to grillo out that day.

Dan, are you planning to do the June 13th event, or are you grillo'ing out? I know the wife's been a real grillo with you spending time on the car and all!

Yeah I am grillo-ing out that day. In all honesty I at an out of town wedding all day Saturday and don't feel like getting up at 530 to get there in time the next day.

I may stop by the gv motorsports thing.

The next autox I plan to do is the one at warminster. Word has it that that lot kind of sucks.

It's not that bad. The tarmac is all cracked up, but at least its a decent sized lot. Boeing is a horribly small lot.
