Define aggressively in the snow?
Last year we worked at the house til 2am during those blizzards. Driving in 8" of snow, I don't think it would have gone nearly as well with an a/s tire. Still prob would have made it, but it would have been shady.
That and you need the extra grip for all those 2nd gear powerslides.

Playing around is 1 thing. But do you still maintain 60-70mph on the highway in the middle of a snow storm, even with snow tires? Maybe I'm the only ***** here that doesn't?
8 inch is nothing, especially with AWD. I drive through that in a FWD Camry! It's the 20inches that matters.
I'm just thinking how much snow we really get all winter long? BTW, I'm buying wheels and tires, not just tires! (Ideally 17x7, and 195)

I think your looking at it wrong. Last winter I procrastinated on getting snow tires. We got 10inches or so, and I took a 45 minute drive to my friend house with my toyo proxes4's. I made it there with out getting stuck, but it was an unnerving drive. I blew 1 stop sign because my car needed 50 ft to lose 10mph.
So i bought snows. Soon after we got over a foot. I brushed off the snow, backed out of the drive and drove several miles of almost unplowed roads without slipping once. Basically I could drive the way i normally do. If someone pulled out on me, it was not an issue, because the brakes worked really well.
Sure, you can be aggressive and go 80+ on the highway, but the real gain is a much safer trip.
They are also lots of fun

we are driving $30k cars (some more with mods). spending a few hundred dollars on a dedicated set of tires that will last 4-5 seasons is a no brainer for me. its not only control of your own car you have to worry about, but control when the retard in the camery next to you who is on all seasons loses it thru an intersection and you need to get out of the way FAST w/o losing control.
just like in racing, the tire is THE most important part on the car.

Umm, back to the tire thing....I never had all seasons, so I can't compare. Always had dedicated summers and winters. It was a thought, I know the purpose. You guys dont have to jump down my neck like I didn't know. jeeze!

I feel I would get more out of the day with an instrutor. If it was 2 days or a smaller less difficult track I would feel better. I just signed up after I saw everybody else doing it
If it do
esn't work out there's always shenendoah in oct....

IMO, PCA has some of the best instructors around. these guys have been doing it for a very long time and they know what it takes to run a fun safe event. They are my first choice when it comes to driving groups, BMWCCA is a VERY close second.
Ran into a black evo IX (red hood vent, monster tach, some stickers around) with black BBS MR wheels with a built 2.0, big turbo, pump/meth claiming 600hp tuned at precision tonight. Said he owns a shop down in the city but didnt get any more specifics out of him cause he was with a bunch of friends but this could definitely be a new "fast" evo in the area. I would of liked to have seen it "run" but it was a weird situation all together.
I'm assuming nobody else here has ever seen or heard of the car? Just trying to learn more about it. tried getting the sandbox to come handle business but he was unavailable lol

Seriously though, I need to pick up something! Still plenty of time!
