^ your advice is being considered. actually im gonna start with SM next event.

its true that I'm not getting much outside help and its not that they are unwilling (mike went out of his way to help me a few events ago). Its just that no one knows me and I feel like I'm brown-nosing asking for instructor runs or setup advice.

also, is anyone else having trouble finding instructors?

As of 4:00 I am the only technician still employed. They laid off all 3 under me and the marketing chick. That ruined my day. I had the pleasure of knowing who was being laid off before they actually were too so I had to pretend like I didn't know what was happening.

That's what happens when the bottom line is in the reds, and your creditors are banging on the doors! I see the later part with my job!

Marc is right, you should not do anything to car and just run in whatever class. In all honesty, it does not matter what class you run for now as long as you are learning at each event. If it were me, I would take that $1500 you were going to spend and just buy a camera for the car (I like my Contour HD $280 shipped) and sign up for the next Evo School that comes around. The school will be the best $ ever spent on the car, modding the driver will give the most change in results. The camera will let you see what you are doing with the car, I would move the camera from the outside to the inside to see the driver inputs as well as car placement. It is amazing what you can learn about your driving from the video if you use it correctly. Some people really put it to use during events, I saw co drivers breaking down video right after their runs at Nationals, both of them trophied, car was in SS.

The point I am trying to make is you could spend $30000 on your car and still not be fast, you need to work on the driving aspect and leave the car alone for now.

I will say a good alignment is key, I would bet half you guys have effed up alignments on your cars. It is hard to find a good place to do a proper alignment, why I am learning to do my own.

If you ever need any help with the course or finding an instructor, just come see me. I will personally help or find an instructor for you. If I am not around the grid guys always should know where the instructors are at. You should have an instructor in your car for the first run or two for the next few events (at least maybe the whole next season). I guarantee you will see a vast improvement in your skill level after doing that. I had an instructor ride with me for years after starting Autox, every event, multiple runs per event. Simmons would ride with me and I would drop a 1/2 second off my time after listening to his advice on my run. To this day, I still like having an instructor ride with me to help me out, you can always learn something new with this sport.

It's not to that level but we are on the verge of needing to borrow to stay afloat while we wait for several large jobs to come around. Everything is in development right now. I've been busy as hell for the last few months with the mechanical side but the electrical guy has been dead in the water. I feel bad for him the most. The only reason he still works is because the economy tanked and took out his 401K. He's 67 and has a really sick wife.
On a positive note I registered for the 10th. Beating the **** out of my car will make me feel better. 777 FTW!

I'm still on stock suspension Kenny, working my way up to that mod. Hopefully doing it that way willl pay off for me.

Josh, that sucks dude... U worried at all? Your wife doesn't work there too does she (I seem to think you mentioned about her being a nurse)?

Glad both you and Dan signed up for the 10th, were gonna have a good time.

Thanks! I always feel like a jerk butting into conversations while looking for an instructor. I suppose with time it'll get easier.

oh and I took your advice about late braking, much earlier braking last event. Maybe too much because my times sucked Was able to accelerate through the turns and keep my line.

whether or not that line was good is a different matter...

Monks>Eulogy

Unless you want to go to old city, so you won't be the only person wearing a pink shirt with a popped collar.

I've heard rumors from several reliable sources that the owner of Eulogy was the guy that complained to the LCB that Local 44, Memphis Taproom, Resurrection Alehouse were serving unregistered beers. Apparently because he was spiteful that he didn't get a special beer the the three aforementioned bars received. IF the rumors are true, giant douchebag move. With so many other great beer bars in and around the city, Eulogy fails.
