Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
nice job Dave. I am hoping to get to the Waynesburg race on the 30th, missed the 11th gig ....had to go see the Pitt game.
I forget what is in that old dirty red car...but it must have some supercharger stuffed under the hood for it to catch up to you like that....

Thanks for the support guys! Funny story about that Tempest:
So after I get done beating that Monte Carlo, this guys asks me if I want to race. I take a look at the POS pontiac body, but am intrigued by the drag radials, so I ask, "What's it got in it?" He replies, "Oh, just a 348 4-barrell carb." So, I figure, eh, I guess it will be fun murdering him.
We get in line waiting to race, I get out of the car for a minute to find out a bit more about the car. I ask him, "So how much power is she putting down...do you know?" Driver replies in a very calm manner, "Oh, right around 1200 horsepower." I immediately laughed and a asked him again, "No, really, how much power is it making?" He replies, "Man, I wouldnt lie to you, its putting down 1200...to the wheels." I nearly crap my pants and demand to see under the hood.
He pops the hood and all I see is this stock looking V8 with no supercharger, turbos, or nitrous lines going into the motor. I ask, "SO, where is this 1200whp coming from?" He says with a big grin on his face, "See that tube running through the firewall to the manifold...it's connected to two BIG turbos in the back of the car that are pushing 28lbs of boost." I officially get scurred. He also tells me its done 8.90's in the 1/4. I think that nerves may have played a part in that mis-shift as I felt legitimately out of my league, haha.
I was also told that his car holds the Maxton Mile speed record for a 2 door vehicle at over 215 mph. Apparently its on Youtube. It was pretty beastly.
Haha, found it:
