Cops Everywhere!!!
Cops Everywhere!!!
Last weekend I went for a couple of runs and I noticed there were cops everywhere in speed-traps in New York and New Jersey. Let's see...state and local goverments with record deficits and there are lots of speed-traps....yup...tickets are not issued to boost govemrent revenues!
Be careful outt here guys!

Oh, supposedly there was a street racing accident out on LI recently involving two Vettes as well. No fatalities so far as I was told. Also no confirmation since I was basically told buy a guy outside 7-11 on my way home from my girlfriend's house.
That sorta thing in combination with quotas (which don't exist
) could be enough to raise the presence in known, probable and suspected street racing spots.
Uh...thanks, O.

Um...SHUT UP!
Sometimes there's beginning of the month pushes too. Usually I see big presences at the ends, but sometimes early in the month too. Just my own personal observations. I rarely ever see cops on the roads/highways in the middle of the month though.

insurance companies hand out radar guns to police, so that they'll catch more speeders, write more tickets, and raise premiums.
after you get the speeding ticket, most times especially if it is your first offense, in new jersey at least, the prosecutor will cut you a deal, you plead guilty and get the penalty reduced, all they care about is getting the fine, if they can reduce you to no points they will just to get money out of you, they don't care if you get points or not unless you make someone angry. if they reduce your points, then chances are you'll go out there and speed again, and they can catch you adn do the same thign and get more money out of you.
it's all about making money. if they were really concerned about making the roads safer, they'd spend more money to educate drivers, make it harder to get a license, and retest drivers on a regular basis, instead of wasting valuable police resources on some "punk" kid doing 80mph on a deserted highway when they could be stopping real crime like murder and rape.
go look up statistics for automobile deaths in germany vs. united states. you think it's cause we speed more here? germany doesn't have speed limits on it's highways. it's cause it costs $2000 to get your license, they teach you proper defensive driving and driving etiquette, and spend their money on repairing damaged roadways and increased safety education and equipment.

how is that not plausable? it is in the insurance companies' best interest to make sure that speeding tickets (and other moving violations for that matter) keep getting written so that they can raise premiums. what's a couple hundred dollars per gun to them when that gun can turn around and catch dozens of speeders, each potentially making the insurance company a couple hundred dollars or more per year each?
if it were about making roads safer, then why is it that police don't generally pull people over on the highway until they are doing 80+? traffic is moving at 75-80mph, every single one of those cars is breaking the speed limit, however no one is getting pulled over for it. apparently it's safe to drive at that speed. so what happens at 85? you're out of control? i'll tell you what happens at 85, the fine jumps to 20mph over (in a 65), and the fine is significantly increased. which translates into.....more money.
why do sometimes they reduce the ticket to an offense with no points? cause they don't care, they just want the money. they line up the speeders, offer them deals, and rack up the fines.
you have to seriously be kidding yourself if you think that it's not mostly about the money.
What I've stated are my observations on how many police cars I see according to the time of the month. I'm not trying to insult any police officers or anything. I hope you understand the quota thing was said tongue in cheek.
