Shoot me a PM and we can work something out if you need things dialed in enough to pass.

Im still confused why the people who made the pre-patched V7 roms felt the need to set everyone to 1's and to 'forced pass' anyways.

Hey Jamie,

I thought a lot of guys were doing this because they either -

a. pulled it all for weight

or

b. got an aftermarket intake mani (magnus here) and all that stuff has been eliminated from it.

For the a. guys put it back on but what can the b. category do then?

You may be SOL, especially with how in depth the MAC inspectors may be at times. Most knowledgable automotive techs will know that a SMIM will have almost no provisions for emissions. I foresee a lot more SMIM's coming with available options to retain the EGR and PCV systems in the future, especially if this new inspection system becomes more common across the country.

There is a reason a lot of the available upgrade components carry the "For Off-Road Use Only" disclaimer. That's a big warning for anyone in an emissions focused state.

Per the advice, I'm probably going to re-install the EGR and EVAP and revert to stock exhaust, cat, airbox, and set ecu to stock parms for the most part so the car is legit. Some day when the car is exempt or at least not my DD I will think about modding again, but this is such a PITA and a hassle it's not worth it... Another option is to buy a property in another state that is still reasonable and register the car there.
wen i went.. he scanned everything, then visually checked for everything.. then he logged it with his laptop for like 20 min afta he did the obd emission test.. he was logging the o2 sensors.. and everything else including fuel trim, idle... etc..

Thanks for continuing to contribute to the thread.

I'm driving my car for a week then I will call to schedule an appointment. Have evap, egr, stock cat and exhaust. I do have an aftermarket air filter and will remove my mbc and run the stock boost solenoid. I can't believe they go into all that scanning with the laptop on top of the OBDII scanning... I had been optimistic since my car shows good readiness, has functioning emissions, and has the stock ROM ID... Now I'm worried since my idle is not rock steady...

On a side note, which MAC have you guys gone to? Braintree or Hyde Park are probably the most convenient for me, but I could go to Fall River, Bourne, or Framingham if members have had a bad experience at one of these....

Thanks again.

Looks like we're making progress here, I just ordered a new working EGR solenoid and when my car is back I can finally get everything hooked up again.

It didn't occur to me that my removing the egr was the cause to my gas mileage being horrible. Mostly because I completely forgot about removing it.

Let him. You aren't replacing the info, just the operator who is overstepping his bounds in my opinion. Is there a federal law that requires fuel trims to be within a specific value? There is a reason that these cars can adjust trims by 25%. if it's within the trim adjustments and passes all other inspections and any required 'tests', it's your right for a passed inspection.

Does it cost you anything per visit?
