It's easy to say go track your car... when you got another car to drive to work the next day. If it was my only car, forget about it.

How will they know, black box?

currently the car is just springs/shocks, front/rear sways running on 17x9.5's with 255 rs3's. adding bump steer bush and probably rear trailing arm bush this winter.

it is just DE for now, hoping to run GTA next year, as well as get to work with NASA and work up to TT with them. but obviously that will be some time off.
Heat and an air hammer works well for those stuck camber bolts. I'm also doing trailing arm and bumpsteer over the winter, but mostly because my chasis is high mileage and about to be 10 years old.

Our cars are very similar, I run the same wheels but with 255 StarSpecs. Other than the plates I have the Perrin PSRS and Whiteline RCK. No bars. I suggest the plates and a good alignment.

Didn't that French dude, Marc, with the e92m say that he gets regular warranty work done and they actually have kept up with replacing his brakes?

I do know BMW won't deny normal ware and tear from tracking. They know their customers will take the car on track. I've seen them at my brother's dealership also. But it's only to a certain point. If you come in with cracked or stressed rotors, you're on your own. They will also deny warranty if the owner misses a service.

I think what Chau is saying is if you come in with a catastrophic failure, they are going to be able to know when happened to cause the failure based on the ECU readings. Don't think for a second these new ECUs are naive like in our cars. They have a memory loop that records some essentials. Even some aftermarket ECUs have those capabilities now; Horsepower Freaks is one of the BMW tuners I know that has 30min loops on their ECU's to record the engine vitals. It even has a standalone battery so you can send them the ECU without it going dead.

In the age of things like smartphones I'm surprised the Mitsu Ecu doesn't have more monitoring programs in place. The X has an overev code that never can be deleted and some cryptic flash counter that tephra found. You would think it would be a high priority for a company to develop something more sophisticated to protect themselves from having to pay to fix people's cars but I guess when warranty claims are usually denied, they're using a low tech approach.

im hoping to get enough caster out of the plates to skip the psrs. i just dont want to wind up spending 3-500 on cleaning up the suspension and then wind up going to coilovers anyway.

Not all manufacturers are as bad with warrantee. BMW has been great with mine. They're replaced all the dumb sh*t I complain about with no questions asked.

I had no problems with BMW warranty when my wife had one. Mitsu is about the worst out there. Ford, Chrysler and subie are all fairly reasonable.

Never owned a Ford, Chrysler, or Subaru. Never really took any of my family cars in for dealer service other than the BMW either.

^ thought you don't need aftermarket parts on your car to go fast. them washers add 10 whp power son. that's why marc has them washer all over his car, he's trying to catch up to my 1:14.7 on street tries. i told him to put a couple bags of those washers in the truck and glove box to get mad whp.

Nelson had Terry help him setup his FA 500s at the GTA event back in August. NOt as stock as my Bilsteins/GT Worx yo! Ineedmorehelp!
Yeah they helped me initially at GTA with levels and tape measurer, only because they got them to me the day before the event and I didn't get them on until 2am. Then woke up at 530am to head out to NJMP, Was a long *** weekend.

I've since got my tires and alignment from Treadzone set to Front -3.2 ~ 1/16 toe in and Rear -2.0 ~ 0 toe on the RS3 setup. It is a major improvement. Very very easy to drive now. The FA system responds very nice too and has good valving ,compared to my previous MR Billies/Eibach setup, and rebuilds are cheap(& ON THE EAST COAST), upgrade-ability is nice if I want to go 2-way(for pennies) later.

BTW, I still have my MR Billies and Eibach setup. They may or may not be for sale.

I was considering Ohlins for mine, but with the price difference, I may just go with one of the FA sets. It will be a while before I get a set, but it's still something to think about.

My schedule didn't change at work, so I'll be lucky if I can make it out to any events next year.
