I find it funny how chapters can differ so much.

At the event i ran with BMW CCA Del Val, all they talked about in their classroom sessions were crashing and how awesome their street survival classes are. There were about 3-4 crashes (not offs or spins but car obliterating crashes) before lunch time and everyone was alright with it.

Then the event at WGI with BMW CCA GVC, there were two minor incidents and we all get called into a meeting and told that if there is one more incident that the event is getting shut down so errbody best be getting they drivin right.

That's my cool story for today.

Yeah man it's pretty late wtf grillo.

In other news. Auto geek was having a nice Black Friday deal and I got a buy one get one on a few things and got the opti no rinse. Put some in a spray bottle and tested it on the rear bumped yesterday and it worked very well. Ill be hitting one of the power wash bays next week again for a full cleaning of the f30 and then continue to use the opti in between and see how it holds up. Ill let u ninjas know how it goes.

Been using ONR for a while. I still don't like like as I do washing the car though. What are you using as an LSP? Speaking of this, its been 3 months since my car got washed.

i agree, GVC is more concern about safety and driver's improvement. i like that they have exercise like late passing or driving side by side around the entire track. you are aware of a car next to you at all time, you know what it's like to go through a turn off line, and you learn to control your distance from the car next you to. i wish other clubs do this for novice and inter group. and they have one simple passing rule, always pass on the inside of the next turn, there's nothing to get confused there.

I didn't mind those exercises. I wish I had them during my first few events. By the time, WGI came around, I had plenty of experience passing and being passed offline. Plus WGI is a lot easier to run offline than NJMP from my experience. It's probably because there is a **** ton of grip and camber at WGI that I wasn't even anywhere close to the limit.

Going through the bus-stop 2 wide is still a little scary... that ish gets narrow quick. Other than that, the two wide exercise didn't bother me. I did mine with Pshooter.

Grillo is slacking cause work is mad crazy right now... Lots of ish going on that needs my full attention. Pretty sure I'm going to 3rd shift for a while to try to straighten some ish up and get back on track with production.

I haven't done any BMW-CCA events, but in my experience some of those perceived chapter differences probably have as much to do with the venue as the chapter hosting the event. NASA at Pocono or NJMP is pretty laid back, but at WGI, it was always a more strictly run event--even though it was Joe running both. Certain tracks are far stricter as they can afford to be....kicking out clubs that make them do more work/maintenance. WGI doesn't want to do the paperwork associated with a wreck, nor do they want to have to replace armco.

yeah, nasa is very strict about using the turn 1 outside curb at WG, they would black flag you if you put all 4 wheels on the curb twice, they consider that as 4 wheels off. but other clubs dont really care how much curb you use there.

yeah, going through the bus stop 2 wide was crazy, but everyone got through it without incident and you learned from it. you learn to never go through there 2 wide faster than 20 mph

best track drill I ever did was the no-brake exercise. that taught me the most and I still do that to this day and have all my students do the same. some of the exercises these clubs have you do I don't see the value in...

WGI didn't give me the impression that they were vigilant with replacing armcos and repairing or repainting walls as there were plenty black tire marks leading into big black marks on the walls and armcos and it wasn't from our group.

Its expensive to replace the armcos, and it also serves as a warning not to disrespect the track.
