Pete, that's a nice e46 and a good price. I think Justin's e36m had miles about that high when he got it. I don't know wha motors for those would cost but I would venture a guess that finding a used stock motor would probably cost close to what Chu rebuilt his entire Evo motor for (not that I know that number either but I can guess a ballpark).
My goal is to get a cheaper rwd track car in a few years. I've thought about old BMW's or a basket case cheap Miata (I imagine their motors are cheap to acquire or I could pony up and do an LSx swap if money were right).

I really want to buy something cheap and do all the work to it for the experience. I even contemplated rebuilding the entire corolla when the motor is done. I can get a fully rebuilt motor for $1500. With my choices for cheap DD in the market, I'd almost prefer keeping what I have and knowing it wasn't neglected for years by who ever.
